I was thinking maybe the murderer was still in there since more torturing was done & maybe he said "come in turn on the lights" hoping to get help. Maybe that's also why he got it so much worse by the time they actually entered.....bc the murderer didnt like that he was inviting someone in to perhaps see them

I am unsure of what happened after this but I believe you're on the right track. I believe he was left there without caring if he died or lived, they got what they needed and had something against him to keep him silent so they didn't need him dead or they would've just finished the job before leaving. I think he said come in turn the lights on hoping they'd see him and help him. Guy came in, didn't turn light on, picked up the table and put the phone back. Then later on he kicked the phone off again or removed it not having the energy to call the desk and ask for help. And finally that time they came in and saw him. But I'm unsure if the killer had returned to the room and removed the phone, I think it's more likely he removed the phone hoping for help. Crazy story either way. Glad I don't mess with the mafia and shit

For context: when your brain is losing blood you start to lose the ability to think clearly/form speech. When you're in that much physical distress, something as simple as forming any new thoughts to make into words is too much. I was in a similar situation (all the blood went out of my head and pooled into my feet, also I'm fine now) and the only thing I could get out was "I need to lie down" despite the fact that saying something like "I feel like I'm dying" would have helped me more. Owen got out "Come in, turn on the lights" which was likely his way of asking for help the only way he could. "Come in, turn on the lights" if followed would have informed anyone entering he was in trouble, but the staff didn't turn on the lights. This is also probably why the phone kept getting knocked off the hook. He was trying to get help and knew the only thing he was strong enough to do with so little blood was get the phone off the line. When you lose that much blood, you can barely even crawl, let alone get up and call for help. He knew they'd come back up if he knocked the phone, and it worked, but unfortunately it was too late. For someone who lost so much blood, he tried as hard as he could to survive, even if it doesn't make sense to someone who has never experienced that before. Also the head in the hands thing: if you lose a lot of blood, it will make you extremely nauseous and/or dizzy. A common thing that I did when this happened to me was I would hold my head in my hands and curl up as much as I could. He was likely experiencing the same thing. He was trying to survive despite the dire circumstances. He was even found near the door. The guy was doing everything he could to get help, but the hotel staff just didn't realize what they came upon until it was too late :( *TL;DR:* Owen's odd behavior is explained by the physical consequences of losing a lot of blood. For someone missing that much blood, he tried everything he was capable of to get help. Even when his attempts failed, he continued to try. Poor guy edit: I wanted to thank everyone who has been wishing me good health. I am much better than I was. This almost never happens to me now because of the medication and lifestyle changes available to me after my diagnosis. Stay well and hydrated!

It also seems to me like this is possibly some kind of organized crime type situation (maybe he got in with some bad people), so it’s possible that actively asking for help or warning the hotel staff of what was happening/going to happen could’ve had consequences. But if he took his beating and found a way to get help from the staff without directly contacting them, then maybe it would’ve worked out better for him/whoever he might’ve been trying to proctect

yes, a "commercial woman" is a woman who sells herself, otherwise known as a prostitute, harlot or street walker. i'd think that was obvious. you'd think heckle and jeckle, there, would've known that. and "pauper" is just another word for a poor person; powerless, no connections, no money. it doesn't have to be a "bum." it refers to any poor person. "paupers graves", also known as "potters fields," is where they buried ANYONE who couldn't afford a "proper funeral." which is about half the american population. the u. s. has turned into one gigantic potters field.

Unless it wasn’t him saying it & it was the murderer? But then why would they ask the belly boy to turn the light on? Was him/her lying in wait? Why wouldn’t they unlock the door then? So weird either way!

This is a simple case. Roland was involved in sketchy stuff with the mob. The dim lights, always wanting the door unlocked, but the most damming part is that he kept saying, "Im not hungry". To me, this seems as if he is using a code sentence. for "I can't talk, someones in the room". Also, "don" is a term for a mafia leader. Roland also did not reveal his killer, potentially meaning his killer knows his friends and family.

Don is a title often used in mafia-ish group and it wouldn't surprise me if Owen got into some sort of mess with a Mafia-ish group and ended up being murdered/beaten for it, secondly I believe it isn't that unusual for the group he worked for or the 'Don' to have paid for the funeral as to a mafia group members are still considered family and it wouldn't be an uncommon practice even if he had crossed/upset the group. There was also that quote saying he got himself into a jam? Perhaps some mafia trouble, also explains why the woman could have been nicely dressed as working for that type of group would certainly pay off...

"paupers graves", also known as "potters fields," is where they buried ANYONE who couldn't afford a "proper funeral." which is about half the american population. the u. s. has turned into one gigantic potters field.

Mob ties would also explain the scar and cauliflower ear. And I’m willing to bet the “I’m not hungry” conversation was some sort of code. That’s just my two cents though.

Another theory i have is that owen may have had schizophrenia, And his two "sides or people idk the name" were the opposites and "fought" Thats the reason he may have said he fell on the bathtub because he does not want anybody to know and get "medicine or go to a mental hospital"

My theory: Owen was gay, Don was his boyfriend. He went to the hotel to meet him. Someone from his fiance's side probably saw them and found out about it, which would explain him brushing Don off the next morning with the "I'm not hungry". His murder could be revenge for his fiance mixed with hate for being gay. Could be why Don sent the flowers later and arranged a funeral for him.

I agree with this but also think, The person who killed him could have been the fiancés brother. She might have committed suicide (or owned a slot at that cemetery and would be buried there after death.) so the brother felt that having them buried in the same place would be what she wanted. The flowers were probably because of guilt and were used as a way for him to forgive himself for what he did. He probably tried tying him down and stabbing him to death. When he wouldn’t die he bashed his skull in. If your not a cold blooded killer already, doing that to someone (let alone stabbing them in the chest multiple times beforehand) will keep you from sleeping at night. What I don’t understand is why he would be on his elbows and knees holding his head in front of the door. Maybe they left him like that expecting Don to be the person to walk in and find him? Or he crawled towards the door himself and heard it opening and he instinctively protected his head, after so many hits he received to it?

Okay so related to your theory, here's mine. I think that the female voice was just from the party and there was no female involved. What happened is that the Artemus and Don met somewhere and found out that the other was gay. They then started to have an affair because Artemus was still in a relationship with his Boyfriend Louise who set up the funeral. Don is trying to get Artemus to trust him so that he can then trap him One night Artemus tells Don that he's going to be waiting at a hotel room and he wants to meet him there for a night together. They both agree to check into hotels with aliases to make sure nobody knows they were gay, which Don probably suggested so he wouldn't be found later on either. Don goes in and makes Owen get really drunk until he can't really think straight and this is when he starts getting tied up by Don. Owen thinks its some kinky stuff but he starts to be tortured and hurt. When the other bell boy comes in, Owen (who has been covering himself to minimize pain) thinks that it's still Don so he stays in that position. Don must have told him to not tell anybody about this and threatened him not to tell anybody and Owen must have said "nobody" because he didn't want anybody knowing the reason they were there in the first place and let it get out to Louise. Just my theory.
@Mixedmetalhead
@Mixedmetalhead 4 жыл бұрын
But then why would he stay in the hotel after he's been found out? Also, this doesn't explain why the fiance (Louise?) would send a flower and card saying "love forever" after having him killed.

@@collinnmckinleywarden1845 This makes no sense. The original poster talks about how Artemis needs help but he obviously wouldn't ask for help if the murderer is there. He clearly doesn't want to snitch. And why would the murderer even give her the option to come in and see that and get caught? Clearly he wouldn't want her to come in and it wouldn't be suspicious for him to speak because she was told a friend was coming over. The guy died quietly, as if he knew it was coming and just took it. Else he would have shouted for help or you know, used the phone. Also I definitely don't think the murderer was the one who told her to come in. The maid would have give him away, she either would have seen the blood and ran or scream extremely loudly and grabbed attention if he tried anything. The only thing I can think of is that Artemis was debating whether to get help or not, he was planning to just die but then at that moment just thought he'd rather get help. Or he more likely just thought he was going to die no matter what because of his extensive injuries so had no problem letting the maid know.

One of the best Unsolved. The mystery, the banter, the birth of Ricky Goldsworth. I rewatch this a lot.

I’m still convinced this involves the mafia, mostly because of the name “Don”, a title for the boss of the mafia

Really? I thought the mafia were very covert when "icing" someone. Beating someone to death and leaving their body to be discovered is not covert in the slightest.

The presence of an anonymous benefactor paying for Owen's funeral, and the mysterious “love forever, Louise” message, adds a chilling touch. It suggests there was someone out there who knew him or was involved, but chose to remain in the shadows

I imagine that when they saw him laying on the bed with dark stain around him he was already wounded, and then when they left he tried to crawl to the door, knocking over the phone stand in the process.
