@@lindsay16 sorry to dissapoint you, but plenty of white people have baby face and nice skin. Have you ever been to Europe? People of color age better generally because they can handle the sun better. However, a white person that barely goes in the sun, doesn't really get wrinkles. Plus wrinkles are not the only thing. There's face structure. People who have baby face, regardless of race, will look younger. I'm East European, 25 years old and by everyone's standards, I look like a teenager. I have many friends my age who are darker skin and look older because they have more mature features. Not everyone is the same.
@march91775 жыл бұрын
And to the OC, there's nothing wrong with looking older, or your age. In some jobs, is a advantage because you seem more wise and dependable. I have to rely on makeup to add years to my face because I don't want people to see me as a child. It's harder being successful in some fields if you look like a young girl.

Blonde turns me off the most of Asian westernization. Dying her hair blonde is already a minor form of insecurity in her origin. Actually go to Korea and the only ones to dye their hair a color like bright blonde are in show business. She is so whitewashed. Her explanation maybe maybe maybe doesn't sit well with me, she has no definitive answer why she chooses blond hair color and even if she likes it, then my assumption is true she subconsciously wants to be white.

@Knightfallprotocol4445 жыл бұрын
Bro it's the same for me. I'm Hispanic and white. I'm not Hispanic enough for some hispanic people and I'm not white enough for some white people. It gets annoying but realize that if someone treats you that way, like you arent ethnically good enough, then just ditch them and get new friends. You dont need that negativity in your life.
@SeychelleSunshine5 жыл бұрын
Foreign Jamaicans understand this as well, and especially Jamericans also. To Jamaicans, being too American is seen as a bad thing because of stereotypes and experiences. I was looked down upon for speaking Patois like a "yankee" as a child and liking rock music, I just couldn't win. I went through a phase of feeling the need to overcompensate a little in front of other Jamaican people and now I just embrace my entire identity naturally. One is in my blood, my ancestors, my soul; the other is in my history and life experiences. I'm 100% Jamaican and 100% American 100% of the time.

Blackmilk The frequency Chinese eat dog meat is as much as Americans eat bear meat. There are dogs called meat dog. They are raised like pigs and different from any pet dog. There are 2 ways to cook dog in China: the Korean way and the Vietnam way. Korean way is dog meant hot pot with specify Korean dog sauces. The Vietnam way is toasted dog meant. (Never tried it) I don’t remember the taste of dog meat. Lat time ate it was 15-20 years ago. Basically I only remember Korean dog meat sauces taste great and the hot pot soup was like lamb. You mix soup with sauce too. I like lamb 10 times more than dog meat. Actually I ever tried peacock meat once. Tasted like chicken.
@enry31205 жыл бұрын
Quite many people don't get this culture, but it is just culture. In korean, there are not much plains! Mountainous districk is more bigger than plain. So they barely grow livestock. So meat was rear. That's big part of the reason why korean eats dog.

scartissuex1 Actually I know what I'm talking about, American Tv shows are nothing like korean Tv shows , korean variety shows are so versatile and unique, such as happy together, runining man, let's eat together, hello counselor , law of the jungle , and sooo much more , and the editing is amazing.

scartissuex1 why don't you name somw american Tv shows ' that you think are an inspiration to korean variety shiws and I'll judge by myself ' although I know it's not the same, and I know more about korean culture than american culture because it's richer.

6:45 say it tbh. i've been a fan of kpop about 8 years and it's still embarrassing how strong the tendency is to do this. do not treat people like they're stand-ins for idols or entertainment. at some point, i stopped wanting to show other american (i'm black) friends kpop because inevitably, they'd get to that kinda obsessive point where they were tapping my shoulder or screaming any time they saw any kind of asian person at all. the fetishism would get to such wild places, where they were generalizing koreans, and then generalizing all asians based on koreans. it made no sense and quickly became embarrassing, so it's no wonder that flesh and blood korean folks would catch on to the feeling and not exactly like it. like i said: like what you like, i love kpop myself, but please don't boil entire groups of people down to small aspects in the big picture that don't actually have anything to do with them lol

I think what the girls said at the end is really important to remember. There are going to be people who judge you for being too American ("white") or too Korean/Asian but just DO YOU. Whether you may relate to your heritage more or your current nationality is up to each person. Just don't forget either side and respect every culture. Don't forget where you came from while also remember where you are now.

My parents both moved to America after highshool. I was sooo impressed by the girl in the middle. She hardly has an accent. I used to be embarrassed by how bad my parent’s accents and cultural differences are. But now I am so proud of how brave they are and how much effort they put into living in America for the sole purpose of giving me a better life. They actually prefer China and don’t really enjoy living here but they endure it for me. My dad has many connections in China and if he lived there he could be very very rich, but he chose me over his career which shows how amazing he is.

Ok so on the "How do you feel about people using Korean Entertainment to Stereotype You" question, where the one girl was saying that they are still cool without the kpop and stuff, I felt that response was really relatable because as a black young man (17) people often think that all black people are hard, and thugs, and that we all sag, and like rap, r&b, and hip-hop, but then you come across a black man like me who doesn't like or do any of that, so then I'm outcasted, I'm said to "act white", or that I'm not BLACK but even if we didn't have rap, hip-hop, and r&b I'm still me, my skin is still BLACK, ya know, so I just feel that I could relate to that one girl cuz her response really hit home for me.

Kahil McLaurin those who are Asian but don’t act like it are called banana I think. Yellow on the outside but white on the inside. As part Korean it pisses me off because people always ask me if I like KPop and if I’m related to Kim Jong Un.

Am late to this comment but I relate with what ur saying about not acting like the stereotype of ur own people. Am Mixed Mexican/ Spaniard who is on the lighter side with greenish orange eyes. People asking if My family was in legal,in the cartel or if Chapo was my uncle and so on. I will never forget the captain of the swimming team telling me I should try out, since I made the swim to the states.Growing up I was called wetback,mutt an whitewashed or nopal - that’s someone who doesn’t speak Spanish like they do in Mexico.I was born an raised in the states. of course I wouldn’t know the proper slang/language lol. My own people being my worst enemy since I didn’t really look like them. Am in my 20’s now and honestly looking back …. I just feel pity for them. They’ve made such a small box in their mind to live in,full of hate and ignorance. sadly many will never experience the diversity in this world. And everybody knows they will end marrying a White guy. That's only what they know to do in their life.

I don't get why it's so hard for people to wrap their heads around the term "Korean American." Yeah, my origins are from are another country, but so are that of most people in the States too. There's like absolutely no need to comment on how "well I speak English," how "white washed" I am, or how "FOB" I am. Simply put, I'm Korean American, and that should be enough.

JYSContent I think the issue now is that we are all American. There is no white American. And if we keep putting Asian in front of American it perpetuates the idea that white people are the only true Americans. Our nationality is American. Ethnicity is chinese korean Japanese etc. I don’t like to refer to myself as Asian American for this reason. However Asian American also helps when talking about specific experiences others can relate to. Just an explanation.

Maybe it's where I grew up, but I was in a pretty diverse area and no-one in my friend circle ever questioned anything like that. No matter what the person looked like, if they said they were American, it'd be like "of course. What else would you be?" (Maybe it was just the logistics of living in a city with a huge population of military and 'immigrants' from other states.)

MusingsofaJay♡ That's on ignorant people and a problem in America, not of Asian Americans. Defining oneself should not be a barrier. Just because I'm an Asian American doesn't mean I'm not American and anyone who thinks otherwise has the problem. Entire groups of people can't just keep giving up parts of themselves and letting racists and discrimination ruin their cultural identities. There is absolutely nothing wrong with calling yourself "insert ethnicity here" American.

I love the girl in the pink jacket. She is breaking all kinds of stereotypes when you hear her Southern accent. I love it. 😁
