Yes, absolutely, the kids get the high life because "they're just so young and don't know better" and the older kids are "So grown up and responsible, they've dealt with you for years so give them some grace." The middle child Is "Going through that teenager phase and doesnt deserve anything." Yet when the eldests are busy and the kids are screaming, who's there to help? IM NOT SALTY ITS JUST FUN. And you absolutely get kicked out of every group, except the corner that you suddenly have become attached to. Okay, after all that complaining, i just wanna say, i wouldn't trade being a middle child for anything, it sucks a lot of the time, but in the end... I've learned patience, been able to solve conflicts more easily... And gotten to more understand both the older and the younger, which is something a lot of my family can't say.

My friend's parents forgot her birthday, didn't even apologise when she told them, and in the end didn't get her anything. Her younger sister, however, was treated to an extremely over the top fairy themed birthday party and got a flat-screen TV with Netflix, and her eldest sister got a night out with her friends and an iPhone. As you may have concluded, my friend is the middle child. Hell, it was her thirteenth birthday! And she didn't get a single present, no party, no cake, not even an effing happy birthday wish from her family! +FateCat I'm 30, this is how it is. My older sister is the best friend, my mom worked though my childhood, and my little sister is the baby. Older sister can't balance a check book to save her life and barely pays her bills. Younger sister is became a pagan and vegan to shock my mom only (yes I'm sure of this!) and has 3 kids in a tow behind camper. I'm the middle child and I'm usually forgotten. For example, yesterday my mom went out for some food, she asked my siblings what they wanted. Then she came home later with only food for them, and I ate the leftovers. My older sibling always bonds with my parents the most, my little sister is spoiled, and I'm the one who gets all the punishments. I got grounded once because my sister made a mess all around the house. It's even worse when your the oldest daughter. You have to learn how to cook, clean and do other stuff you don't want to. I came home with an A on my test, and my sister got a C. They ignored me and praised my little sister. My parents try to avoid me, and once my mom told me to shut up and to go away because she was mad at me. Then when I got sad, I was sent to my room. My sister started screaming and cursing at my parents, and she got a whole new wardrobe. Sorry for ranting, but I just wanted to show how being stuck in the middle is the worse thing ever.

The thing is, also, middle children are more likely to be depressed and not know it because they're ignored, left out, and I have read that they ARE the invisible glue to the family. There have been times I go somewhere and cry for hours, because I feel like my I'm alone. I live with a complicated and mixed family and I blamed myself. It's ok. I get it guys. People complain about "being the oldest" and "being the youngest" but I promise spend a day in our shoes and feel greatful.

Not only am I a middle child, but I am the only girl with two brothers. The boys gang up on me, and obviously like hanging out with each other more than me because they're guys. Older brother - is never home, and is still deemed the 'perfect' child despite all the stuff he pulls. Younger brother - so spoiled, gets what he wants and loves the sound of his own voice. I am hardly ever listened to, am always the only one asked to do jobs around the house, and am the last priority because I'm the 'most easy going'. I still love them to pieces, however, and can never say no when they ask for my help (despite getting nothing in return!). At least we middle children will be the most resilient and resourceful in the long run!

Yes being the middle child is indeed the worst. You're noticed for only your accomplishments or negative behavior. You're never noticed just for yourself. It's either be successful or you're left out. I'm only noticed just for my talent in sketching, collecting sketch books, and collecting plushies, which I am forced and scolded at when I don't let my younger siblings play with them. I just want them to stay where they are so none of us goes ballistic when one of my family members trip over them and blame me. It's at least I'm not FULLY ignored... sometimes it feels like I'm their servant when it comes to housework. I would confront them about it but I hate being lectured about how ungrateful I am. The only thing they now notice me for is attending college, my grades, and the friends that I make. I know for sure that they're trying to make time for me... but it's mostly my faults that the mostly notice...

They forgot one of the most annoying things about being a middle child (I'm not a middle child but I know that it's annoying) whenever your older/younger brother/sister does something bad, the middle kid gets the blame. It's because parents are like "oh she's grown up she would never do that!" or "he's too young how could he do something like that?" but because you're in the middle, you are totally able to do something like that. I am the middle child in my family and I figured out this, Youngest gets most love, oldest gets to do whatever they want and in the middle you're stuck with all the chores and you get blamed on everything that goes wrong because they think the youngest doesn't know any better and it would seem nonsense to think the eldest child would to do it because they think they're responsible enough, and of course the person they blame is the child in the middle. :c

I'm the middle child and Im always the one that ends up being the one who gets in trouble! My mums on my little sisters side and my dads on my older sisters side. Oh and when I was 5 or 6 I got multiple beatings from my older sister and constant nagging from my younger sister. I'm also the one who gets copied whenever I'm upset and crying! And guess what my sisters get? FRICKING LOVE AND ATTENTION! Im always the one who does the things my sisters don't want to do. Soz for ranting!

Lol I'm so invisible my parents didn't notice that I was going through depression once. Everyone in my family has gotten a huge party, gifts, friends over on their birthdays, and the most I've ever gotten was a cake and a sketchbook. I usually am the one who doesn't get any family asking 'how are you?' and 'I miss you!' from across the country. I literally can't remember the last time someone has congratulated me for something. I only get in trouble. I'm in the middle of two older siblings, and two younger. I appreciate it all though. I have a house. I get fed. I have clothes. I'm not complaining. It may sound bad but at least I'm not starving with diseases. It's boring in the middle but at least I'm alive. :/

It's my birthday today and so far, my older sister got €200 :) My younger brother got €300 aaannnddd I got €20 :,) Everyone in my family doesn't talk to me, this has happened my entire life. But i got used to it and I stopped talking to them, I barely see them anywhere in the house.. And because I was so influenced by their "social skills" they have acted towards me, I am an introvert compared my siblings who are smart, talented and social. It sucks.

I’m a middle child and I must say it sucks, as a child I was left out a lot, I remember one time when I was 12 my own mom forgot my birthday, I had to mention it to her, my older brother and my younger sister got whatever they wanted, they got braces I didn’t get braces, they got new cars I got a old car which I had to work on all the time, they got to join clubs at school, I didn’t get to join clubs, I never got rewarded for having a good grades like they did, it was even worse for me because I didn’t even get a phone until my senior year of high school or let me correct myself I didn’t a new phone until my senior year of high school, I had a busted up phone while my sister got a brand new iPhone in middle school, when my brother turned 16 he a got a new dirtbike, when my sister turned 16 she got a new fourwheeler, when i turned 16 you know I got ? An excuse saying they couldn’t afford to get me much but yet they just got a new car for my mom, let’s just say I didn’t have a lot heck i sleep on a broken bed while they all have new memory form mattresses. I’m grateful for the things I did get which wasn’t much. So yeah I have always felt like it was my fault and i always felt like they hated me which I still feel like they do because they didn’t even call me on my birthday this year. But oh well

RIGHT! I'm 21 now but once I drove to Aspen, CO just for an adventure and a bunch of my extended family was like, "you shouldn't have done that, you could have been in danger".
