I grew up with a guy who was an awesome athlete. He was a crazy good tail back in football and didn't bother with basketball. He was 5'9" and like 190 pounds. He'd show up to the basketball courts with a 40oz beer in his hand and wearing flip flops. He'd stick his thumb in the beer to keep it from spilling and dunk from a stand still with either hand... In flip flops. He had the best smile, he'd smile and keep walking by as we all seethed with jealousy. Shout out to by guy Oochie.

To put this into reference for non-NBA watchers, the highest vertical leap at the combine is around 48 inches, which is for guys who regularly work on their vertical and play basketball nearly every day for hours on end, and even those are standouts. Former MVP James Harden's vertical was recorded at 37 inches, so in 2 months he got an MVP's vertical, I can only imagine 2 more.
@EA-ps4wc
@EA-ps4wc Жыл бұрын
Exactly, this is an absolutely insane transformation. But like they said at the beginning he comes from a family of hoopers/jumpers so he probably has pretty favorable genetics for explosive performance. i think all you need to do at your age is to literally jump a lot. Search up PJF Podcast and overtimeathletes. If you are passionate about improving your vert then listen and watch their videos until you have a basic frame of work to go through. Jumping high requires strong legs and good mechanics+bouncy tendons. Since you don't want to stunt your growth just jump like a pogo stick a lot and jump as high as you can until you get sore + other pylo exercises. rest and continue when you are ready to go.

He still needs to add a few more inches so he can actually dunk consistently. My point was that he got great genetics so the potential is there, he should’ve taken full advantage of it and continued training until he stopped improving you know?

Because you was training your jump in your puberty. Any training that you do in your puberty is 5 times more effective than the same training as adult. My friend is 15 and he can dunk on 10 ft , even though he wasn't directly training for that, he just was always jumping and playing ball active in his grown sprut. And he is white, so it is not a "genetics"

I remember how when I was 15 someone embarassed me like "you don't even have a six pack". After that I started train my press with a programm that my friend adviced me.
