Wards lead left jab is the ultimate tool. Every young boxer should train to have a jab like that, it penetrates , it probes, it keeps the opponent honest, its out there fast and strong all the time, it creates openings everywhere. Sweetness!

Ward also had the benefit of being a left handed orthodox fighter. It added to the power, authority, and dexterity of his jab. Also why the likes of Cotto, De La Hoya, and Cooney had powerful jabs, though I think Ward has the best out of them.

What's up with people loving Golovkin and hating Ward or loving Ward and hating Golovkin? Can't you appreciate both athletes? They're both incredible, both respect their opponents, and both are good ambassadors to the sport. Golovkin is trying to clean out 160 and he is staying there until he has fought all the big names there. Ward still wants some big names at 168 namely Chavez before he moves up to 175. Golovkin has the opportunity to fight light middleweights who will most likely be moving up in the near future like Canelo and Lara. Eventually Ward and Golovkin will fight but you don't have to hate one and love the other.

I'm not worshipping GGG. That's my favorite fighter out there right now but at 68 Ward might wear him down and get the decision. He's a bigger guy that knows how to wear down shorter power punchers. He can stink out the fight until the opponent looses some enthusiasm the way hopkins does. However Golovkin is more scientific than pacquiao. He doesn't waste movement and I don't think he's on ped's like pacquiao obviously was throughout his career. Quillin won't fight him, daniel Jacobs won't, cotto won't. He's waiting for big money fights with smaller guys at catch weights. Ward is waiting on golovkin to fight before he moves up to fight kovalev. Ward is a big 168 he fought at 178 in the Olympics. I'm not a pactard, marquez beat him every time.

doing the stay in your house deep dive on divisions from 2010- 2015. up to 168 now. it was a strong era in this division. lot of good fighters and great time of european and uk based fighters. 168 is usually an international division. lot of good fighters froch, abraham, ward, kessler, bute and good fringe guys taylor, stieglitz, bika, smith plus up and comers dirrell brothers degale paschal and groves. the super six created an environment where the best guys all fought each other. the unquestioned man of the era was andre ward who beat most everybody and retired undefeated. the super six created the opportunity to fight much of the top and he took full advantage. froch would have been the best of most eras and had a great career as 2nd best. Ward became highly respected p4p but did not become the big money star in the usa probably due to the international flavor of his best wins and the 168 and later 175 divisions. i have noticed in 160 and up in 2010 to 2015, it was a great era for Germany. big crowds, lots of champions. of course the klitschos at heavyweight. felix sturm at middleweight. abraham and stieglitz at 68. marco huck and glowacki at cruiserweight. i don't know how much money they were making but they had the action.

I don’t think Abraham was aware that every time Ward did a hop step, he crossed his legs as he moved to the left. Ward is lucky Abraham never attacked as he crossed his legs, could have been knocked down easy. Happens immediately after 23:45 and many other times.

Froch dominated Abraham from start to finish, flawless performance look how ward is struggling first half of the fight (not to mention the headbutting)

I respect Andre, but there is NO chance to him against GGG. Golovkin will destroy him in 8-9 rounds.
@gamalierestradajr10 жыл бұрын
Ward vs GGG. Andre Ward wears him down & wins in later rounds by unanimous decision. GGG will get gassed after 5-6 rounds. If he gets countered well by Ward early, in even less rounds 3-4. Body shots would be the key to victory & if Ward lands a few he might even win by knockout in 7-8 rds.

If Ward loses at lease one power shot from GGG he is finished and Kovalev will kill this whimp
@SuperGeronimo99910 жыл бұрын
Igor Pospekhin Rosado fought 7 rounds, hasn't been down once, and he's a light-middleweight. Stevens is 170cm, and went 8 rounds. Both have been knocked out before, Ward has NEVER been knocked out, and he goes down from one power shot of GGG? Dream on! Kovalev couldn't even kill a 50 year old Hopkins, who got embarrassed by Chad Dawson. Watch what Ward did to him, he ended his career. Oh, and Kovalev got soft skin. He got barely hit against Cleverly, but got cut in 2nd round. Against Agnew he got two cuts. Ward is a dirty fighter, watch what he did to Kessler. He would win a UD against Golovkin, and win by stoppage against Kovalev. Kovalev has been hurt by ONE Hopkins counter, he even admit it. Hopkins hasn't had a knockout since 2004, Ward had atleast 14. Kovalev is hittable, Agnew showed it. If he doesn't get stopped the conventional way, Ward will headbutt him until it gets stopped, like he did with Kessler.

SuperGeronimo999 Why are you openly supporting dirty tactics and headbutts like they are allowed, or even encouraged, by boxing regulation? Ward would not have half the success he does if he fought outside of his home town of Oakland with a ref who actually knows what the rules are. Is Ward an elite fighter? Of course he is, not denying that one bit. However, condoning the use of excessive holding, punching while holding, leading in with his head, and headbutting as if it's supposed to be a part of the game and indicates ring intelligence is utter nonsense and not sportsmanlike at all. He can be as humble as he wants outside of the ring, but inside, he is just a talented fighter mucked by a boring style to casuals and dirty tactics that piss me off, and I consider myself to be a boxing enthusiast...
@SuperGeronimo9999 жыл бұрын
Asam Alshaef Not even sure if you're serious or not. Where am i supporting dirty tactics? I am just saying, if Ward is still the same, and fights the same, he'll beat Kovalev, no doubt about it.
@asam36229 жыл бұрын
You said, and I quote, "Ward is a dirty fighter, watch what he did to Kessler. He would win a UD against Golovkin, and win by stoppage against Kovalev." You just admitted he was a dirty fighter, and seemed to point that out as one of the reason why he'll win against those guys, and you support and fanboy over Ward apparently so it seems like you're supporting dirty tactics being used...Just how it seems when I read it. You cannot deny that Ward should have been deducted points AT LEAST 1 time in every fight he's been and he should have been DQd against Kessler. I almost vomited when I watched it, it was despicable and is partly the reason why I don't watch Ward fights anymore.

what a robbery....abraham beat ward close fight but he had better accuracy, better punches/harder punches, more power punches. defense wise was better made ward lose most. i think kovalev is going to beat ward....badly and ggg would KO or beat ward in a one sided fight

Stuffed if I can work the scoring system out. When I was fighting you got scored shit-all for hitting a guys gloves or elbows, you had to hit the front part of the body. According to my count Arthur won the first three rounds and lost the fourth yet the judges scored it even or Ward ahead. What fight are these guys looking at?

I love all of the ggg fan boys that fallow all of Andre Wards fights and know deep in down inside that ggg will never fight Ward cause everyone knows ggg does not have the skill lolol ggg is fighting guys 2 weight classes below him and Ward is moving up to fight Kovalev.Ward is building a legacy by fighting big fights ggg will not be talked about in 4 years after he can not run from real fights.

i'm so behind on Ward, but so far from two fights I've watched, he puts on a clinic. My word he speaks and mumbles in jabs and body punches, that shell cover up and movement, very very intelligent and aware, present boxer. Arthur just looks lost here
