There are rules on the road in India…..first rule: the bigger you are, the more responsible you are for accidents. i.e. a truck is responsible for any accident it causes. If a car collides with a bike, it’s the cars fault. A bicycle hits a pedestrian, it’s the bike’s fault……Second rule, you must sound your horn and indicate when approaching traffic from behind. This encourages the driver in front to check his mirrors. India drives on the left hand side, like the UK, that’s why the driver sits on the right. The issue in India that is problematic for us in the West is that we’re used to personal space, and this extends to our vehicles. In India, space does not be;one to you but to everyone. Once you spend a decent amount if time there, you get to understand the logic. You might understand it, but you’ll never get used to it. I twisted my ankle when the pavement collapsed in Bangalore. Immediately there were 10-15 people genuinely wanting to help me. I was coming out of Wembley stadium near the Designer Outlet. I suffer from intercostal cramps. (The intercostal muscles are between the ribs and with the diaphragm help inflate and deflate your lungs). I had a bad attack on my left side. I release the cramp by punching myself in the ribs. I was doing this at peak time, I’m wearing a suit, carrying a briefcase, and all the others walking about ignored me. A homeless man came over and helped me, asked me if I was alright. This is the society we live in….self-indulgent and self-obsessed. I used to tell the Indians “don’t lose your Indianess. Stop trying to be like Westerners because we are not what you should become.” I was referring to the greed and selfishness that pervades our culture. In Indian and all developing countries, those with the least always are happy to give the most. In our culture, those with the most wouldn’t give you the steam off their p1ss.

I’m glad to see you today Noraly. I’m sure this was filmed a while ago, but since we saw you last- there was a terrible earthquake near Nepal. Hope you were nowhere near that area at the time. Rats were a real shock! You are a great adventurer. Safe travels! Really love your channel 👏❤️👏

I am a Hindu, honestly i would say, most Hindus will dread to go to this place, because of sanitation. But the thing in Hinduism is that, like the Vedas say that, what seems unnatural is also natural. It might be a kind of heart-attack for Abrahamics to learn about coexistence with diff animals, but this is quite common in Hinduism. Interestingly, these areas in India never had a bubonic plague like black death of Europe, despite having so many rats throughout history. We must respect the customs, as long as someone's physical or mental health is not affected. Many of these rituals are because of history, Hinduism is so old in time. Changes might have better or worse results, you know traditionally Hindus have both polygamist and polyandrist families as well( although monogamy is the ideal). Hinduism has followers, who are Matriarchal and as well as Matrilineal as well. Southern Indian Hindus do consanguineous marriages, while Northern Indian Hindus abhor it as a Muslim practice. The latter has veiling and other regressive practices, but the former doesnt have it.

Well thanks Noraly for taking one for the team and bringing us to this wonderful temple. I don’t know if I could do it but I thank you for the experience of watching you. I think intense is a mild description however. 😂😂😂 Amazing video and thank you for the adventures

Oh Noraly! I am ever so grateful to be on this side of the screen as you are visiting the temple dedicated to Mother Goddess who it is believed loved rats (see comments clarifying below by Chandra) What an experience you had. The challenge of it is was clearly evident on your face as you shared it with us. Definitely what is called a “stretch” outside your comfort zone experience. I loved how friendly the person at the entrance was and that he shared additional information about how it could have been even worse. 😂

I don't think they are "worshipping" rats, from the story it seems they are worshiping the diety who reincarnated as a rat. If they respect sentient beings in all form (as i have read), i don't see a problem with rats. Unless a plague breaks out.
@chandra_himanshu Жыл бұрын
It is not for worshipping rats. The temple is dedicated to Mother Goddess and Rats are believed to be loved by Mother Goddess and so they respected by locals. Interestingly, this areas have never faced Rat related disease out break.

Never been there, but have heard of it and seen in news paper long time back, definitely want to go some day. There is always something new wonderful about India. Did you know there is an old ashram in India, in Vrindavan dham, I guess centuries old, it also called city of Widows ! Poor ladies who are widowed and no one to support them, they take refuge here.

India as we know it, It has history, geography, arts, science, civilisation, spiritualism, materialism, poverty, riches, diversity, consistency, peace, violence, wars, truces, liberalism, conservatism, colour, food, famine, disasters (both natural and man-made), power, weaknesses, ambition, lethargy, values, corruption - you name it. There is nothing in the world which a part of India does not at least partially depict.

Rats used to be the vehicle for Lord Ganesha also known as the elephant god, the remover of obstacles, the one who loved and worshipped his parents. I am sure it was intense but much like your Himalayan, for Ganesha the rats were his Himalayan. Your unvarnished blog has the truth we appreciate!

Hey Noraly, its been really awesome to watch the feats that you are achieving as a solo traveler. I started watching and following you from the time you brought "Basanti" and started your ride from Delhi. Its been a spectacle to watch and follow you. You Inspire me to take the leap in many circumstances. I was really surprised that you paused your Africa Journey mid way, but the next thing i see is that you are i Barcelona Spain with an another adventure which was really great 🙂. Just Imagine my surprise when youtube notifies me that "Itchy Boots" is testing the New Himalayan 452 in India. If you ever find the time and opportunity to meet your followers and supporters in Mumbai, I would be thrilled to have the chance to connect with you in person. Until then, please know that your travel stories continue to inspire and bring joy to people like me. Wishing you smooth and exciting travels ahead, and may your adventures be as extraordinary as you are!
