Ohh yeah the patch of dirt is called the UK. I know you did stop but the government here is such a bunch of dickheads you never know when they might see a bit of sense ! Just came back from the woods. This is an EXCELLENT knife. It is now my favorite one. By FAR. M390 doesnt matter, this thing PERFORMS. This is like a Porsche or a Ferrari, not an F350. As long as you avoid prying shit with it, and stabbing cars like JoeX, this thing will hold up. Its edge never goes away, and it can be doused in water or rain and be alright. Highly highly recommended.

Excellent blade. I liked mine so much I ordered myself another. My spine was absolutely useless for striking a ferro rod, though. I ground the spine near the handle where the M-1SL is laser marked, It now has an actual 90 degree spine & throws sparks very well. Lionsteel T5 is a good budget version of this blade btw for anyone that wants a cheaper option. T5 is also an excellent knife.
@greekveteran27158 ай бұрын
Lionsteel are no where near the level of TRC though.Their geometries on the bevels is the worst I ever had on a knife and their heat treatments, aren't perfect, where on TRC they are. Same goes for the materials (steel, sheath etc). (in my experience) Only thing that Lionsteel is better at, is the handle comfort, but it sacrifices grip, which means the TRC is a safer knife that can indeed serve better a professional or a military use role.
@klausheisler50148 ай бұрын
@@greekveteran2715 Yeah, I definitely agree on that. Blade geometry is nowhere near as good as TRC but because lionsteel are thicker behind the edge you can remove the shoulder, pull the edge right back, & put a high shallow convex on them. The lionsteel T5 (after the edge reprofile) is actually one of my favorite blades.
@achimgeist51858 ай бұрын
@@klausheisler5014Absolutely the T5 with secondary convex edge is really good. I own some TRC knives and the knives are top notch, the South Pole is my favorite EDC, but Lionsteel knives are good knives especially for the price. Cathodic engineer here. I wanted to give a quick break down on stainless steels like M390 and why they are stainless. It seems most people believe that chromium stops a steel from corroding, because itself does not corrode. But that’s not true. In fact the exact opposite is true. Chromium is one of the MOST reactive metals on the planet. It corrodes faster than almost any other. So to explain why it makes knives stainless I wanna hit the basics of corrosion. Three things are needed for oxidation/corrosion to happen. You need an electrolyte. Dissimilar metals touching each other, or simply a non perfect metal. (Which is all steels) (This creates what’s known as an imbalance of voltage potential between molecules.) And lastly you need to place that metal in an electrolyte, in order for a galvanic reaction to happen between said molecules. Chromium is so reactive, that the moisture in the air, in the driest of climates, will oxidize it immediately, in microseconds. It takes a very weak electrolyte to get this process going. Other metals require a more conductive electrolyte before they will react. And some metals have a voltage potential so positive, that they almost never oxidize. Like gold, and platinum. Anyways, this is the magic of chromium. Because it oxidizes so quickly, it forms a thin film on the surface of the metal, it’s not rust but you could think of it like that. It forms this layer so readily, that it almost instantly shields itself from the surrounding electrolyte. Like a coat of paint or FBE. The breaks it’s contact with the electrolyte, and the galvanic reaction stops. The only way to start the reaction again, is to scratch off that paint coat it just gave itself, in which case the cycle repeats. In short, chromium corrodes so quickly, that it stops itself from corroding.

Hey DBK-Boys, thanks for a new episode. I am also a big fan and owner of TRC-Knives (Southpole and Apocalypse). Which are still my favourites for outdoor activites. But if you are fans of military knives, which can be heavily used in outdoor and survival situations, you should try ANV (Acta Non Verba) knives (e.g. M311). @warriorredeemed2158 ай бұрын
Modern Military knives arent meant for fighting with. Im a former infantryman. They are more utilitarian for tearing into packages, cutting cord, cutting some form of line, using as stakes, you name it. We probably did it. CAN they be used for fighting? Sure, but so can any knife. The knives DBK are promoting are actually very very utilitarian knives. Most of them are too good for what you actually need a knife for. Uncle Sam doesnt waste dollars on premium sports knives for their soldiers. Cheap and functional. If youre looking for a true fighting blade, look into the halsey G-14 dagger. Those kind of things are more akin to fighting.
