Most military or tactical styles are pretty much useless for bushcraft and survival... where as in our opinion the most important type of knife a soldier could have is an actual survival knife! This knife might be the best of both worlds! Tactical meets Survival and bushcraft in the @trcknives M-1SL! This might just be the best tactical / military knife of 2024! or ... ever?

Are the stuff in the shop still restricted from this patch of dirt I live on with it rules and stupid tax and other bull💩 that the government can think up to make it a nightmare for people like yourselves to try and import your goods into? Ohh yeah the patch of dirt is called the UK. I know you did stop but the government here is such a bunch of dickheads you never know when they might see a bit of sense ! ( but that is a very very rear occasion unless you pay one of the law abiding government employees a shit load of money to look the other way) I didn’t say that mind 😂😂

Just came back from the woods. This is an EXCELLENT knife. It is now my favorite one. By FAR. M390 doesnt matter, this thing PERFORMS. This is like a Porsche or a Ferrari, not an F350. As long as you avoid prying shit with it, and stabbing cars like JoeX, this thing will hold up. Its edge never goes away, and it can be doused in water or rain and be alright. Highly highly recommended.

The South Pole is my favorite knife from TRC and is my most used EDC. I own four South Pole, the old Version with screwed handle scales (Elmax), the Apo (Elmax) the 10th Anniversary (M390) and the V4E DLC (Vanadis 4 Extra). The South Pole is a great kinfe. Greetings from germany.

Excellent blade. I liked mine so much I ordered myself another. My spine was absolutely useless for striking a ferro rod, though. I ground the spine near the handle where the M-1SL is laser marked, It now has an actual 90 degree spine & throws sparks very well. Lionsteel T5 is a good budget version of this blade btw for anyone that wants a cheaper option. T5 is also an excellent knife.
@greekveteran2715
@greekveteran2715 4 ай бұрын
Lionsteel are no where near the level of TRC though.Their geometries on the bevels is the worst I ever had on a knife and their heat treatments, aren't perfect, where on TRC they are. Same goes for the materials (steel, sheath etc). (in my experience) Only thing that Lionsteel is better at, is the handle comfort, but it sacrifices grip, which means the TRC is a safer knife that can indeed serve better a professional or a military use role.
@klausheisler5014
@klausheisler5014 4 ай бұрын
@@greekveteran2715 Yeah, I definitely agree on that. Blade geometry is nowhere near as good as TRC but because lionsteel are thicker behind the edge you can remove the shoulder, pull the edge right back, & put a high shallow convex on them. The lionsteel T5 (after the edge reprofile) is actually one of my favorite blades.
@achimgeist5185
@achimgeist5185 4 ай бұрын
@@klausheisler5014Absolutely the T5 with secondary convex edge is really good. I own some TRC knives and the knives are top notch, the South Pole is my favorite EDC, but Lionsteel knives are good knives especially for the price. The T5 has one of the best handle of all my knives and I own a lot knives.

Hey DBK-Boys, thanks for a new episode. I am also a big fan and owner of TRC-Knives (Southpole and Apocalypse). Which are still my favourites for outdoor activites. But if you are fans of military knives, which can be heavily used in outdoor and survival situations, you should try ANV (Acta Non Verba) knives (e.g. M311). They are doing a really good job in terms of materials, quality and heat treatment, too. Br from Germany

Different lengths look bad until it gets longer, but there is something about a beard that feels freeing/empowering. I've had a longer beard once before during covid when you couldn't go get a haircut i decided to let it go and see what happens. I forgot how good it feels to have a long beard.

Did you notice any failures on this video? I've served for years and none used a knife half as hard as on this video... You all suffer from too much KZbin videos and marketing,where they've convinced you that Steel is the most important factor when in reallity, it's THE last factor you should care for on a knife,lterally. That's facts. If a knife is going to fail,is a) user's error, b) Bad heat treatment or bad knife design or both. bad knife design is the supid jimpings they put on spines, that are potential failure points on any knife.(That's why TRC didn't add any on Mille Cuori or M1).

Modern Military knives arent meant for fighting with. Im a former infantryman. They are more utilitarian for tearing into packages, cutting cord, cutting some form of line, using as stakes, you name it. We probably did it. CAN they be used for fighting? Sure, but so can any knife. The knives DBK are promoting are actually very very utilitarian knives. Most of them are too good for what you actually need a knife for. Uncle Sam doesnt waste dollars on premium sports knives for their soldiers. Cheap and functional. If youre looking for a true fighting blade, look into the halsey G-14 dagger. Those kind of things are more akin to fighting.

Nowadays every knife reviewer has 300+ knives and everyone is the most amazing knife they have ever seen. Until the next video. Well there has been a few knives that broke . I can't imagine someone trying to say a stainless super steel is a great survival knife. Nobody actually tests these expensive blades. This is basically a commercial for overpriced cutlery the best ever. At least you can probably buy this one. Worktuff the others push are always soldout. But evidently free to knife channels. I just don't see any situation ever that i need a $200 knife so more is even crazier. Marketing and branding. Fortunately i know how to sharpen so all my knives can be sharp.

You guys didn't do the rope of death test! And you also didn't put your own convex edge on it and rejudge it! Get some more embark Rivers or an LT right for test please. You guys are still great

G'day Guys, yep nice alright, personally, solid rivets would be better again. I do like a convex, though happy enough with a regular sabre. Wow, 80 knicker for a rib eye, ...... are you folks running out of cows ; ) At least you only have to sacrifice 5 steaks to get this knife. Cheers Duke.

"The best" military knife - when used for bushcraft & survival only! I wouldn't say that's candidate for the best in military/tactical usage. I can say just by looking at it that it is far from having the best penetrability tip, nor the best hand retention handle 😉. Although it looks to be an exceptional all-arounder / survival small tool.

No, his decision to build it in M390 was deliberate. Perfectly heat treated M390 is truly remarkable.

So I kinda figured you guys would know there is a pretty big difference between Elmax & M390.... Elmax is stronger but M390 has better corrosion resistance and edge retention. So makers actually choose different steels it's not just "whatever is around" lol

it's mostly the size of their batches. They're all hand made. so the batches are a few 100 at a time. TRC is pretty much my favourite brand at this time. I can't stop :D I need them all hahaa
