Drinking my Appletini 🍸now! When I first watched this season I was super annoyed with how Chloe handled the entire situation. Then, I watched it with my Aunt who's a psychologist. And she told me to look at Chloe's reaction as if she was a woman who's just been given evidence that someone she thought she knew and loved was a Serial killer/Monster. And that kind of changed my view about her reaction. Because even if you don't want to believe it. There will still be that question in the back of your mind. Is he really evil?

That is a good point

That's a very good description. She also won't talk to Linda or Amenadiel, because if the assumption that Lucifer is evil was correct, she must assume that he has already managed to trick and completely deceive both of them and any advice from them would be compromised.
@corbanb53 күн бұрын
Chloe is not so much terrified about what Lucifer is but more about who she is and who he is TO HER and the world around her. Think about it you have a woman who is falling in love with what she thought was a guy (weird one but a guy none the less) who has told her he is the devil (weird) and she is a detective who is meant to be able to sniff out the truth. Now she has to come to terms with the fact that the man she has feelings for is according to all history the embodiment of evil, been telling her all along and she didn't see it and everything Lucifer has said is real in which god, heaven, hell all exist. I think Chloe is just massively confused and hasnt managed to piece everything together yet.
@chanelle58892 күн бұрын
Yeah, it isn't just finding out that Lucifer is the devil, it's also finding out that Heaven, Hell, God, the Devil, Angels, Demons, Adam, and Eve...all of that is unquestionably real. As an atheist myself, I can totally accept how that would upend her entire belief system and make her react in unexpected ways.

I really love how you break down your thoughts here. Really, the only counterpoints I'll bring up are that Chloe, from your own description, is a very even-keeled person and this is honestly one of the only times we've seen her truly shaken. Even when things fell apart with Pierce she was sad for like a day but in the end she realized that she still had feelings for Lucifer which is why she broke it off in the first place. The other point I would like to address is with how Linda handled the Lucifer situation as compared to Chloe. You have to understand that Linda is not in love with Lucifer so that automatically was going to change her overall response despite being "intimidate" with him on multiple occasions. She even explained why she was so into him in that way to her husband of the time in that it was a very liberating experience that was the complete opposite of her husband who made her feel trapped in their relationship. Linda is also a psychiatrist who's trained her entire adult life to be able to break down and understand emotions so if anyone was going to be able to bounce back from an encounter with the celestial it was going to be her. Finally, let's just examine all of the other people that have learned that Lucifer is, in fact, the devil. The music producer from the first episode of the series went insane and is locked up in an asylum. The second person was the unbelieving street preacher from the second episode of the series who became radicalized after seeing Lucifer's true face and was definitely in the camp that he needed to be sent back to Hell. Then there was the guy who stole Lucifer's wings and jumped off a bloody building when he saw Lucifer's true face. There are countless others who Lucifer reveals his devil face to throughout the series who likely don't go insane but who are completely freaked out and do their utmost to avoid him in the future. Really, the only other examples of people who learned about Lucifer's true identity and didn't have a terrible initial reaction to it are Malcolm and Charlotte; both of whom had already been in Hell which is seemingly way more terrifying than the devil himself. My point here is not to dissuade you from your line of thinking as you're going to feel how you're going to feel about what you're presented with. I simply wanted to point out all of the factual information that the show has presented to you by this point so that you might also consider why someone might act the way that they do. Perhaps you'll still disagree with the execution, which is a fair opinion, but the facts are all there in the show to reasonably explain why someone might react this way.

I love the Deckerstar scene in this episode exactly for the honesty shown by both of them. And once again Tom & Lauren were wonderful in showing the characters' emotions. And who could that woman be showing up at Lux!? Merry Christmas Anna 🎄

Let me see if I can help you to understand Chloe this season. Before Lucifer came into her life, who was Chloe close to? Only Trixie. She had no friends, no confidant, no adult she could trust or feel comfortable enough to confide in. Her mom was “like a child”. Her ex, Dan was too busy with his job. Now everyone she has around her is linked to Lucifer, the one person she thought she could trust. Amenadiel is Lucifer’s brother, Linda is his therapist, Maze is his demon. She is shocked and has no objective people to talk to. Remember that she has always said she doesn’t believe in the bible stuff. So now she finds out the Bible stuff is real. So her closest friends is the devil, her roommate is a demon and Amenadiel is an angel who obviously, being Lucifer’s brother, can’t help her (in her mind). Why not go to the Vatican, the one place that would have all the answers to things she never believed in before. It makes sense as a detective to investigate the issue at hand when she knows nothing about it. I love how Chloe was written…they gave her a personal problem to deal with instead of just work problems 😊

Good comments. I agree. I think Chloe is behaving logically, although she is struggling to coming to terms with having her whole world, as she believed it , torn apart.

APPLE drink, she wanted an APPLE drink, what makes you think that's Lilith?
@ragabashmoon15513 күн бұрын
Yea as others have said, I think the reason she's terrified isn't as much about him as it is about what he represents. Whether you are Christian or not, lets assume you are, you have your Faith. But to actually meet The Devil? To actually meet God? Remember how Linda handled it, she was terrified and as his therapist she knew Lucifer very intimately (pun not intended in how he paid her) and knew he wasn't evil, but he was The Devil. Charlotte at the time was the freakin' Goddess of All Creation and nearly killed her! So Chloe is going through the same thing Linda did, just in a different way because she may or may not love him and THAT scares her too I think.

When the Devil walks the Earth, and finds his first love, evil shall be released. It doesn’t say “on Earth”. It doesn’t even say from what - or from whom! It took me a while to realize that.

Whether they're right or wrong in how they handled it, the writers seemed to at least be trying to account for how sudden, incontrovertible knowledge that the divine truly exists would impact the human psyche, not to mention one of those humans suddenly carrying a divine offspring, and I get the feeling you're sort of writing that factor off as if it shouldn't really have any more psychological impact than someone finding out their spouse has been unfaithful.

26:25 well "we" 've had 3 seasons, but this was the first approach netflix had towards getting a story going... 29:25 and Linda might be having some lingering trauma from her failed marriage, pushing her to be overly self-reliant.

Half the fun for me if watching reactions is hearing a perspective that's different from mine. I think I probably had mild issues with Chloe's reaction but I do enjoy hearing your thoughts on it. I still think you'll like where this goes but I look forward to seeing if I'm right about that. Lol
@dboss72393 күн бұрын
I believe you are either overthinking or underthinking the situation with Chloe. She did not believe in "that stuff" as she said way back. And she was potentially in love with Lucifer, whom she just realized is really the devil, and got a crash course in the church's view on the embodiment of evil. Her coming somewhat unglued is very understandable. Someone else said it better in these comments, "she just found out this love interest and close friend may be a serial killer" - so immediate alarm and concern over rode her intimate knowledge of what Lucifer is like. Oh and your guess is Lillith??? Really with the appletini clue? Who was tempted by Lucifer in The Garden? (not a spoiler when you consider the title of the next episode) Lastly in general terms, if I may quote Yoda, "a prophecy misread could have been".... prophecy can have several layers of meaning in general terms and can be easily misinterpreted or misguided by personal bias.

FYI...that's not Lilith. You'll find out pretty soon, they tend to pack a lot into an episode. I was trying to figure out that Chloe/Lucifer dynamic as well and the one thing that makes sense to me is that she's worried about Trixie. If I was a mom that would be my greatest worry, that my decisions could end up hurting my child somehow. If I were Chloe I would have definitely talked to Amenadiel, he seems to be very trustworthy. ( I just remembered that Amenadiel lied to her about Lucifer after she shot him so maybe not the best option for honesty ) But of course nobody EVER REALLY TALKS TO EACH OTHER in their world. Yeesh! Truth be told my life is pretty similar so I can't get too irritated with their behaviour
@doc0815martensКүн бұрын
Well, Amenadiel was in heaven when she witnessed it. But you're right, these are certainly the thoughts that go through your mind in a similar situation, for example when one realizes that their partner is a criminal, e.g. a burglar, and has been lying the whole time. The question is, is this also the case if he has said it all along and never made a secret of it, but one just couldn't or didn't want to believe it? Back to this particular case. Logic leads to the situation being the same as before. Lucifer is the devil, Maze is a demon, there is heaven, hell, angels etc. That was also the case before and nothing happened. The only difference is that Chloe now knows something that she didn't know/believe before. But that's no reason for any of the others to suddenly change their behavior, turn into the opposite or suddenly threaten Trixie or put her in danger, because absolutely nothing has changed for anyone else. Of course, Chloe first has to realize this fact so as not to draw the wrong conclusions. At the same time, she should come to the conclusion that the Catholic Church (and presumably any other denomination) is not the right approach, since large parts of the Church have already proven to be absolute fanatics in earlier centuries. 😉

You have a very good point. Chloe should talk to Amenadiel. But when this happens, you will need a huge tissue... The prophecy is a strong one : 'When the devil walks earth and finds his first love, evil will be released'. And when you realize that the prophecy is fullfilled (and what its real meaning is), you will need a huge tissue again. ;-) I am very impressed on your guess about Lilith. But your timeline seems to be off a little bit... 🙂 I think season 4 of Lucifer has one main motif: When and if Chloe Decker is able to stand the devil face. There you will get the nuances from Chloe you are missing now. And please remember: High heels can be dangerous ! 🙂

1 question that I have. Why are you saying Lilith all of a sudden? I haven't heard of that name before. And sorry, but question 2 that I have. The women at the end. Appletini was meant to make people think of Eve, I think. Is that why you are thinking of Lilith? Just curious. And, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

She will get it as soon as she reads the title of the next episode i guess. And Lilith is the end boss in Diablo 4 😂 But in christian fantasy she is, i think, the mother of demons, and so also Maze's mother.

Chloe and Lucifer had sexual chemistry for a second there some time last season. but yes, it is gone, I agree. this is why I don't ship them - they went through their honeymoon period without even even being together. it's boring. I'd rather they didn't fall in love, honestly.
