Nash is my all time fav player. I’m still trying to figure out how ALL of his highlights are in 240-360p, while other players in the same era have HD highlights. Suns video department cheap or something? Lol. Jordans highlights are 10-20 years earlier and filmed in crisp 1080p LOL.

@@versatillion15 The Suns were always on TNT, ESPN and ABC from 2005-2010. They were by far the most exciting team to watch from like 2005-2007. They def got a lot of national coverage in that era.

Most in-depth analysis of Nash I've seen, great job. I really appreciated the insight on how long he would hold the ball in his hand. I think you're right, it wasn't just a function of how he liked to dribble to get by guys by because he wanted to be able to pass and shoot quickly. I think part of the reason he stayed so upright was because of his soccer background; those guys don't get low and they learn to accelerate and change directions while staying upright. It also made it easier for him to stay in control with backup options since the forward lean can force you to commit more to the drive.

@@versatillion15 you need to have the heart and lower body strength to be able to do what Rodman did, but a whole lot of skill. He's gone on the record saying he would practice rebounding, boxing out and throwing outlet passes when other guys would practice their offensive skills. He would watch film on his teammates and opponents to see how their shots usually missed and where the flaws were in their box-out technique to pick it apart. Jordan said himself that he's one of the smartest basketball minds he knows, but his unique personality often clouds it. Watch Rodman talk about basketball in Detail and it's evident how much he knows when he's locked in and not spouting off about Kim Jong Un or something
@fea1990
@fea1990 4 жыл бұрын
One thing when people talk about the pick and roll game that I feel is not highlighted enough is the ability to shoot. His ability to shoot allows him to get these kind of looks and coverages. It is much much harder to be an effective pick and roll guard when you are not an immediate threat to shoot off the screen. Without the ability to shoot coaches need to be more creative to get the same advantage in the pick and roll

Announcers would constantly say he wasn't looking for a shot, and as their saying it makes a shot. Interesting points about his high dribble and his ability to control the ball away from his body. Did Steve have big hands? I know Stockton could palm the ball off a dribble. Nash was very crafty and I think he is an underrated offensive player. If he played now, he would be taking many more 3's. He was so efficient. My favorite player to watch.

6:10 Nash's secret sauce was his PnR set up. His driving angle is wide, but look at the angle his on-ball defender has to take to fight over the screen. Space, timing, reading your pick angle and using your defender's momentum against him. Also can't hurt to be a career 43% 3-point shooter.
