i'm living in Vietnam where soccer is the king and basketball is still a new sport.Have been playing both sport for many year and i recognized that almost all of my soccer friends couldn't even pound the ball properly,in the other hand,around 70% of my basketball friends could play soccer very well,some are even on beast level

I played soccer for 4 years before picking up bball. I can assure u it was a headstart to basketball an it was more beneficial than playing basketball at a young age would be. Plus whenever I play with soccer players 1v1 in bball I struggle 1quite a lot since their FOOTWORK is elite. I have been considering soccer as synday workouts and it is really helpful
@themanape3 жыл бұрын
Try playing basketball at a young age in your next life before making that claim.
@stathispavlidis33923 жыл бұрын
@@themanape no you try playing soccer in yo next life. Even anthony edwards claimed that part of his success is attributed to his multisport past
@themanape3 жыл бұрын
@@stathispavlidis3392 That's different than saying it was more beneficial than playing basketball at a young age.
@khairulkafee95003 жыл бұрын
@@themanape I think what he means is playing soccer in conjunction with basketball at a young age is the most beneficial because like he said there’s a lot shiftiness and defensive positions that soccer teaches you that you don’t learn in basketball until you get older. Obviously if you just play soccer, you won’t develop basic ball handling and finishing no matter how much you play soccer because you need to use your hand in basketball.
@7_k2653 жыл бұрын
Super helpful thank you,I was having trouble on learning the “shiftiness” as a player

How does soccer help with basketball
@CoachFrikki3 жыл бұрын
1) Quick decisions. 2) Seeing passes 3) Using your body to protect the ball (before and after receiving it) 4) Moving offball 5) Moves + countermoves (reading your defender) 6) Footwork - whole lot of moving sideways and backwards. 7) Court vision - Gotta have 360 vision and know what's happening behind you. 8) Onball defense, pressure, controlling him and stealing the ball 9) Offball defense, positioning, communicating, and reading passing lanes. 10) Shot fakes 11) Getting open, knowing when your not open, backdoor cuts, repositioning. 12) Changes of speeds, 13) Changes of direction 14) Using you offarm (swipes, grabs, seals, pushoffs) 15) Taking care of the ball (Not committing turnovers) 16) Reading 2v1 situations (Offensive and Defensive) - they're everywhere in soccer. 17) Reading 3v2, 4v3 situations, ect. 18) Making offball cuts so your teammates are open. 19) Backdoor passing. 20) Attacking off the catch - reading the closeout (short/long/hard/soft or to the side) while the pass is coming to you. 21) Give and go's (called triangles/1-2 in soccer) 22) Snatching back - sprinting and stopping (with a small push off!) 23) Being deceptive with your eyes - no look passes. 24) Moving the ball - swinging it from side to side while looking for post up flashes. 25) Playing against zone defense - moving & passing into gaps. 26) Your hand touch (handles) naturally gets better with a better foot touch. 27) You get better stamina. 28) You get faster and quicker. 29) Taking and initiating contact - getting low and throwing your weight around (shoulder2shoulder contact is legal in soccer). 30) It's hella fun and playing other sports than bball makes you enjoy bball even more.
