Love my BYD Atto 3. Voice commands are very handy. Love the relaxing interior and mood lighting. It is a fun and safe car to drive. We still have our Maloo as well, however, the Atto is now first choice.

Yes The Voice command is handy. I love this lady voice on board that responds to my requests. It makes each of my trips in this car an enjoyable and lovely experience. Like: Ok, i’ll increase the …. Ok, got it, i’ll ….. Very personal, like a close friend answering to my request in a warmly fashion. It is never boring in the car with this virtual lady on board.❤

That interior is actually growing on me 😁😁 I hated it at first but over time it's rather refreshing and even attractive ✌yet need to get use to voice control vs old fashion buttons and knobs

Good review overall. But a bit of over exaggeration about driving quality I feel. Personally have no issues in driving this car. It is very fast to take off as with most other EVs. I love driving it.

Externally, the Atto 3 looks great .... but I just can't do that interior! I'm just more of a straight lines interior kind of guy! I'm still not ready to jump into an EV of any sort, it'll probably be another 6-8 years before that happens, but with recent pricing announcements of the more 'affordable' BYD Dolphin and MG4, it's hard to find the value in the much dearer GWM Ora. If coin was no issue, I'd still pick the CUPRA Born.

Yeah there seems to be a lot of smaller EV SUVs at the moment. But there will be a heap more midsize ones next year in Australia - VW, Skoda, Cupra, Audi, Subaru, Toyota all aiming to have them. And Seal U, next year!

Great review, you alternates were pretty spot on, the ID4 is priced out of consideration. The trunk is a bit small though for the size. Its on par with the Suzuki S Cross which is a smaller vehicle(funny the model I got a look at the floor wasnt adjustable). Thank you for mentioning that 90% of electric vehicles do not come with a spare, only goo. Its not only because of the weight though but also because alot of them put a motor in that cavity as well. P. S. I saw what you did there with that did at the Jolion😅

Thanks for the comment. It depends which station you go to, what your state of charge is etc... But, say you show up with 10 per cent remaining, and plug in to an Evie charger ($0.60/kWh) you'll be looking at $32.40 for the remaining 54kW of battery fill. At home, if you're charging in NSW off-peak (around $0.14/kWh), you'd be looking at just $7.56 for 10-100%. But if you charge in peak times, that'll be a more expensive way to do it (around $0.33/kWh), or $17.82 for 10-100%.

BYD is now offering one of the cheapest electric cars in Australia. Although I personally still prefer the more premium, Cupra Born, I have to admit that the BYD Atto 3 is proving itself with the frequency you see this model on the road. (Definitely not only popular in suburbs where Chinese tend to live).

Because the MG4 base spec presents much more value than the Dolphin base spec. The dolphin is $100 cheaper just to get the title of "cheapest" EV in Australia.

The problem with MG is they don't have a very good name when it comes to reliability, especially with it's electronics. Talk to any mechanic and they will tell you some horror stories. Perhaps their EV range are better made?

BYD has been building cars for well over a decade. I had my first ride in one in 2010 in country China and it was equivalent then to a base model Holden. Nowadays BYDs are built better than Teslas.

Nothing like reading the comments of a moron to shape your opinion. After 8 months of ownership I can't imagine wanting to drive anything else unless it's a better EV. My total cost of ownership to date (excluding purchase price) is about $200, mostly for home charging. I have charged 3 times at Ikea while shopping there, and got it to 100% each time. Most people won't need to use fast chargers unless they are doing serious kilometres every day. As for styling, as a driver you really don't notice it. Voice controls mean you seldom ever need to take your eyes off the road, and the digital functionality covers more bases than you can poke a stick at. Hands down the best car I have owned, and I look forward to BYD bringing out a more advanced option in the future.

You are correct about the tyres, those who have changed report that stiffer and wider tyres reduce the wallow, elevate handling and improves braking distance. Ride is still on the soft side by European standards.
