I have owned the AWD Seal for 10 months now and absolutely love it. It costs only £33k here in Thailand. Missed in the video you can control temp and fan speed from the steering wheel and 3 finger swipes on the main screen. You can unlock and start the car with your phone or smart watch. I have the V2L (bi-directional changing) plugged into my solar system to give me over 6 Tesla powerwalls of extra backup storage. It’s so good I’ve given my electric meter back and gone off-grid (videos on my channel)

I find these reviews generally pretty fair and certainly detailed but there are always anomalies. For example, mention is made that the price does not undercut rivals but the top model initially retailed at £49K and is clearly a direct competitor to the Model 3 Performance, which costs £59K. That's a very healthy saving, I would suggest. Other reviews of the Seal, notably CarGuru, are much more positive, to the extent that they believe it won't be long before models like this are better than anything from Tesla.

The upside of the LFP battery is it is safer and can be charged to 100% every time. The downside is it is less energy dense (so heavier for the same capacity) and has a slower charge rate. So it is a compromise. The LFP battery is ultimately why I decided on the Tesla Model 3 RWD over the Polestar 2. At one point you call the ability to rotate the screen a gimmick, but then later complain when screen mirroring isn’t possible with a vertical screen. So which is it? To be pedantic, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto aren’t “screen mirroring” as such. I also found the voice assistant in the BYD more accurate than my Tesla and you also have the option to press the button on the steering wheel to access the BYD assistant, or press and hold the same button to access your phone’s assistant (Siri, Google Assistant, etc) I believe the Seal fixes some of the “pinch points” I have with my Model 3, in that it has a proper driver’s display and HUD and better ventilation. If only BYD hadn’t “taken inspiration” from the TM3 and made this a fastback design like the i4 and P4, because the boot is its other limitation. In NZ, the 3 variants of the Seal sell for £29000 Dynamic (61kWh RWD), £33000 Premium (82kWh RWD) and £38000 Performance (82kWh AWD) which makes them very competitive. It is no wonder that it will struggle against its competition in the UK. I may be a bit biased, but I am changing my TM3 for a Seal rather than the Highland TM3.

I’ve got a seal in Australia. It’s a fair bit cheaper here (partially cause we have the 60kwh battery version mentioned as possibly coming to the uk). Absolutely love it. Luxurious inside , great ride quality, handling, looks amazing. OTA updates fixed some previous issues (eg over intrusive safety features now fixed, had nfc phone access). Only negative is that the stereo is only good- not amazing like everything else.

I've had one 3 weeks. Very comfy, very fast, suspension is phenomenal. Sound system is ok. Driver screen feels a bit out of place and stuck on. But for £260 a month on a salary sacrifice it's an absolute steal.

@@jonathanfields4ever it's my first one so hard to compare really. On a full charge I'd say real world you're getting about 260-270 miles providing you're not flooring it in sports mode which is very tempting! I replaced a 2 litre A5 black edition with it. The comfort and ride is in a different league to the Audi I had. The main console screen is good. Heads up display works well. My only issue with the interior is the drivers screen directly behind the wheel looks like a bit of an afterthought and maybe should be built into the dash.

In Australia our Seal Premium, (long range single motor fully loaded/lusciously 'cluttered') on road was the equivalent of £32,000 ..... around (discounted and 'stripped out') Model 3 RWD LFP equivalent. We aren't 'protected' and don't mind one little bit 😉.

The Seal is absolutely not the most luxurious car BYD produces. That title goes to the BYD U8 and U9.
