when you start the engine in BYD, you dont need to wait for the whole screen to start up before you can drive. In fact, once you press the start engine, within 2 seconds, you can start driving.

Hi, enjoyed watching this, but would have been helpful to get your take on which vehicle has a better glass sun roof in terms of keeping cool under the Malaysian sun, and whether the “dog mode” is a practical way to keep the car cool when parked under the sun. Also useful is a comparison of the route planning function, and ease of charging the vehicle at a public charger. And how extensive the Tesla supercharger network is in Malaysia. I am much more interested in these issues vs which car is faster in a drag race. (Boring!)

I have an Atto 3. It has a large sunroof. Initially, I'm worried about that heat intrusion too. Turns out this is an unfounded fear. There is practically no difference between having a sunroof vs not having it. The car, when parked for an hour under the hot sun, does feel hot upon entering. But this happens to a plain roofed car too. When you start driving, within a few minutes, your air-con removes that heat away. Even if you do not open the windows to let the trapped heat out, the heat is gone within minutes. Just to be clear, I do put a tint film on top. But it is not even the darkest one at that.

Whether you choose Tesla or you choose BYD, there is nothing seriously wrong. It is down to personal preferences. I like the comfortable settings in BYD and the driving experience because I am a family man which I have passengers. Tesla is equally good, but the suspension is stiffer, it is good and bad, it depends how you want it.

A year ago I moved to Singapore and I'm leasing a 5 year old Kia Cerato for $2000 a month 😅. Includes insurance and the VEP for Malaysia. But damn I found out today I can buy the Seal for under $2000 a month. Tesla only a bit more. Both are great. Tesla 3 for the brand is maybe better but I prefer the Seal. These comments definitely helped with my decision 👍

please do a 1000 KMs challenge for each car. this way the driver will have ample time to experience the positive and negative . 1 think for sure. i rented a tesla in canada. took a 1500km roadtrip. damn. zero range anxiety. the computer will reroute my destination to a nearest supercharger (which will tell me if there any available charger atm) and it will AUTO calculate how long should i charge to reach for my next destination. so i dont waste time guessing " enough charge to reach anot ah?"...tesla wins my heart just for this feature. i dont need android auto or apple carplay. its redundant when u have a supercomputer .

Since you guys have already gone on a road trip measuring 100s of KM, would have been better if you guys can add in the power consumption for each of them to see how well each fared in terms of efficiency. Eg: back to the Gentari station where you all started off, plug it and see how much energy each car took back in, and divide it by the distance traveled.

It’s hard to get an accurate consumption figure on an EV as the total energy delivered by the charger will be higher than what goes into the battery. Mainly due to battery cooling and heat.

Latest news Tesla is pulling back investment in factory and charging facilities from SEA. Likely due to upcoming price competition from China marques which are on downward price trend and for geopolitical considerations. Likely to focus mainly in developed and advanced markets. Technical and spares support may be challenging in future.

Not saying Tesla is better but it has more stable smooth software experience including sentry mode, light show or etc as long as there’s software update. Better infotainment sound system with interest applications (Netflix, KZbin, Gaming etc). No interval maintenance (unless wear & tear). Supercharger network (not fully deployed but already here). Accessories ready (want to add trigger switch, softclose door, frunk auto close, name it all already in the market). For me Tesla it’s like smart phone but with better software updates and accessories 😂

The BYD Seal Premium is 290 kg (!) heavier, uses 24% more electricity per km, takes 40% longer to charge at same charger but 13% more EPA-range, has no access to Superchargers, about same time/speed 0 to 60 miles, has a lot irritating warning sounds, is uglier, looks old school, is unsafer, has a nerve wrecking safe assist, then the Tesla Model 3 RWD. @@jasminechin8656 BYD does not look more sporty, it’s more cluttered in the front with the unfitting stripes below the headlights. The rear brake lights should’ve been thinner, should’ve been more seamless like a Porsche, but the way BYD does it, which appears to be a combination of both traditional brake lights but jointed together just looks pretty cheap. The Tesla Model 3 has a more minimalist look, which is a modern trend nowadays, the design is straightforward and streamlined, no nonsense or unnecessary styling to be found. If you’re going to talk about sportiness, the Model 3’s suspension is tuned to the stiffer side to improve handling and stability at high speeds, the BYD tunes their suspension too soft for a “sporty”car, this is going to lead to more body roll and less stability when cornering or at speed.

Performance vs performance Premium vs Tesla RWD long range (currently not available at Malaysia) all similar performance, Tesla is higher price at the same time have definitely higher spec and quality. the most concern for normal use, BYD charging speed is much slower compared to to Tesla, 7kw vs 11kw Dc performance 150 vs 250 but those is not important, the tech behind for safety is my concern.
