Your calculation can be arrived at much quicker by adding all your charges then dividing by 100 then multiplying by the batteries size to arrive at 326.928 or 327 Wh/ km. (392/100*83.4=326.928 or 327 wh/ km).

@@Leshic2 Let me put it this way. The price of the Norwegian es8 is basically the same as the Chinese local version, while the tang is 30%+ more expensive than the local one. This should be because BYD is selling through dealers in Norway, while NIO has its own direct stores. So in terms of value for money, at least in the Norwegian market, ES8 is definitely higher.

I can't quite understand the consumption there. Mine uses quite alot less kw/100km than the car he drives, would almost think the brakes were on to some degree.. I should mention I also run with higher tirepressure than recommended by BYD, and it helps alot on the consumtion. Another thing worth mentioning is that this car is mostly as noisy on the 22" wheels as with 20". Problem is noise transmitted through the wheelarches which are poorly soundproofed, and not the axle/suspensionarms. A fairly easy task to soundproof this car and make it nice and quiet.
@Leshic2
@Leshic2 Жыл бұрын
I've done countless tests with higher vs recommended tire pressures. 100%, they will ALWAYS give better range. In his case, if he's going to compare apples to bananas, to pineapples, he has no choice but to use recommended manufacturer pressures. You can't compare each vehicle to each other if you tweak the tire pressures... This is exactly why I love, and trust Consumer Reports reviews on cars, because they buy them. Manufacturers will often tweak cars that are press cars for reviewers, and the results are often exaggerated from real life. Tire pressure would be easy to catch for a reviewer, but there are other tweaks that can be done.. Ferrari isn't as bad as they used to be, but in the past they would send a team of engineers with a car that would get reviewed. If you bought a Ferrari, you were banned from giving your car to reviewers to review. They never wanted real world reviews of their cars. Only reviews where they had control of the car and were on-site. Many stories of this from the 1990s, 2000s.

To put this into perspective, you could finish filling a car with petrol in 5minutes. 7 minutes, you will have left. Personally, I'm not fully sold on fully electric, but I'd like to have one. Hybrids are still massively more convenient. Instead of adding batteries to a petrol car to make it a hybrid, I wish somebody would start with a really good electric, and add a petrol engine.

Such slow charging for a so called 800v car. I know your not convinced Björn by 800v cars currently. But what I can say is my EV6 AWD is charging like a Boss. 🙌. Everytime in the last few weeks when I have used a 350kw Ionity charger, i have been getting 175-235kw from say 15% up to 65-70%. Then around 115kw up to say 80-85%. Then it starts to slowly decrease to around 65kw to around 90%. Even at 99% i can get 30kw. So in this warm weather the charging speed on the EV6 has been unreal. Plus the efficiency hasn’t been too bad at 165-185kw/100km. So all I can say my experience and ownership of a 800v car has been excellent. Hence maybe a summer run for the Kia EV6 in summer and not winter Björn.

Weeell, this byd is not a conventional 800v car. High voltage is the result of their clumsy big cells that they can't put in parallel. So they end up with ~1p200s pack and get as much voltage as just happened to be. 400v charger constraint is the users problem. Ev6 with small battery is +- the same (~650v)

Are you sure you started at below 400V ? Even if it was 500V it will be severely discharged as by my rough calculation they have 192 cells and even at 500V that is 2.6V per cell witch is way to low for LiFePO4. They should limit power when you are at about 3V per cell and stop at 2.8V There is no wonder they limit the charge rate when at such low voltage but they should not get there.

@@bjornnyland They may have no undervoltage protection for the battery or they did this for the review units to make them look better but 400V / 192 cells = 2.08V and that is lower than any LiFePO4 manufacturer spec witch is 2.5V. There is nothing to gain as from 3V down to 2V there is almost no energy left maybe 3 or 4% and that should absolutely be the low buffer. This could explain why they need those 4 minutes to rump up the charging. Do they have the same 4 minutes ramp up if you arrive with 20% SOC or more? I designed a BMS for solar and I use 2.8V as default low voltage disconnect.

Judging 800V vehicles by cherry picking only the worst examples of it and only the best examples of 400V car shows your bias and/or lack of knowledge. Most 800V cars charge faster than most 400V cars. Additionally, there are other benefits than just charging speed for 800V systems.
