After 6 months the Crashpad swag is gone. Short review of my 2 favourites and why the ARB Skydome and 23 Zero Bandit swags are my goto camping swags.

This is a good review and addresses the stuff we all think about. Can’t help thinking though that we have started to miss the point of a swag! We should get away from the old school concept of a swag if that’s what we are calling it and if we are going to point out short falls like being able to sit up. You can’t sit up in a swag, you can’t get changed and canvas does touch you body. These are essentially small one person framed canvas tents. I say buy a single pole touring tent as you get everything you crave with very little sacrifice. If anything you save on space .. Again good review and plenty to think about..All the best..👍🇦🇺

Looks very similar to the Kulkyne Homestead swag but the Homestead has a stretcher - aside from the setup time, the Homestead is very comfortable and rolls up very easily - I’m not a fan of swags just on the ground, stretcher is a must for me

Just wanted to say, thanks for the review and I wish I'd seen this before buying my Crashpad. I have the Hybrid and the 70mm mattress - that I paid extra for - is complete garbage. The kid has a Darche Dirty Dee and the 70mm mattress in that is amazing by comparison. I'll be getting rid of the Crashpad this year but not sure which one to go with. I'll definitely consider the 23Zero one though as it looks the business.

Yeah, I just got 2 king single crashpads based on the good reviews online. The matresses are junk, especially the waifer thin fabric cover, which has worn a hole the size of a 20 cent piece after just one night camp. Hopefully the rest of the swag holds up okay. BTW although the traditional style crashpad swag is advertised on the website as being made in QLD, the king singles are made in China, hence the quality is probably no better than the cheaper brands.

Bought a Crashpad cos of all the positive reviews and it had a hole in the canvas so couldn't even use it on my trip. Took my old faithful Darche Megadome instead and although I like the ridge pole design the Crashpad is crap in comparison in terms of quality. Returned it for a refund and they won't give me one saying it was only a minor issue so their customer service is crap as well. Definitely an overhyped product and I'll look at ARB, 23 Zero or even another Darche now instead. Thanks for the review.

Sorry to hear but only thing good with Crashpad is clever marketing through the 4wd youtubers who get it for free. Friend got a 23zero bandit 1400 which was missing clips sewn into the canvas. replaced with a whole new swag no questions asked. Great customer service by them and Snowys..

@@robbiereddog4202 yeah definitely well marketed. I thought the other reviews I watched were pretty unbiased, now I'm not sure. Crashpad did send me a replacement after I sent it back and they confirmed it was faulty but they ignored my request for a refund.

Imo, the arb is a pain in the ass to set up and pack up. It’s also very hard to get in and out of with that opening, especially when your in a sleeping bag. The same could be said with the 23 zero with that double opening. I use mine on a stretcher, so the mattress isn’t really a problem.

Also I notice the Crashpad PVC base sits flush to the ground, while the other two come up the sides an inch or two. I'd definitely prefer the security of the 'bucket' liner to having the seams sitting on the ground in wet grass or puddles during heavy rain.

Hey mate was looking at a 23zero dome swag or the 23zero 3pole swag you have in this video which one would you recommend in 1100 width. Also have you had any issues with poles breaking on the 23zero.
@robbiereddog4202
@robbiereddog4202 2 жыл бұрын
No issues with any of the poles breaking. I personally like the 3 hoop design as it gives you more internal room and stops the side wall coming in. The only trade off it's a litle more of a pain getting in and out paticulary when on a strecher as you have to scamble in through a smaller opening. The traditional one you can swing your feet out without anything in your way. Everything is a bit of a tradeoff. Cheers

Robbie, I'm in the market to buy my first swag. It's a toss-up between the dusk-till-dawn or the Darche Air pole swag. What you reckon mate? I'll have it up on a stretcher. Cheers mate. Will be using it every night for 2 months off-grid.

Cant really comment on the air pole sag as I've never had one and personally dont know anyone who has. Currrently it seem alot op poles are breaking on the Darche swags so that could be a consideration between the two. The only other points is the air pole is about $200 more expensive and also you have to find room dor that big hand pump that comes with it.

Out of the all the swags I've had I persoanlly like the ARB for a number of reasons: *good quality all round with the canvas, mattress, zips and poles *75ml eggshell mattress - very comfy *3 hoop design with large openings - easy in and out and stops the sides coming in giving you more room inside *internal pocket design and inetrnal and external ventilation flaps * easy setup and packdown I've just picked up a single from gumtree and having recently used that one on a stretcher will be keeping the single and double ARB as my go to swags. Thanks

@@jordant1502 The base at the entry on the ARB is a lttle higher than the others and tends to fold down when getting in and out but also the entry is wider and higher making it easier to swing your legs in and out of the swag when on a stretcher. Hadn't heard of those. Just looked it up, looks like it's well made with good quality canvas but I'm not a fan of 2 hooped swags due to the sag. Either 3 hoop swag or upright pole swag like the Southern Cross enclosed swag - I have a similar one which only has a single straight pole, made by Outback Canvas who unfortunately went out of business during the Dictator Dan Andrews' lockdown in Melbourne. Cheers
