I don’t do the magic circle. I don’t like them. I just chain 4, slip stitch in the first chain, do the 11 hdc in the circle of that chain & pull the starting yarn closed tighter then do Row 2 like she says.

I have a tip to fit your head size. Example : your head size 20 inches divided by 4 you got 5 inches then plus 1 total 6 inches. Do your increase row until you got 6 inches width. Then stop increase and continue row 12 until desire length. In malaysia we call this kopiah also 😊

Thank you so much for this pattern! I was at a loss what to get my husband for his birthday when i stumbled upon this. Hed been asking me for a beanie. This pattern fit perfectly on his giant head. I made the folded over one. I used size 3 and size 2 yarns (wool and acrylic) until row 25 and then size 3 super fluffy yarn for the rim.
@gaginita10 ай бұрын
Everybody loved it, I modefied it to make it move snuggling, I didn't increase the double in one spot and then 4 single, I did just 2 increases in that row apart from each other and after that no increases at all and the fit is super comfy, I loved it! Thank you so much!!! Oh and I used 4mm hook and loooove it you don't know how. Tks again!

New to crocheting here. Have to admit, the magic circle took me about 30 minutes to get but once i got it down it seemed pretty straightforward. Planning on making some for the increasing number of homeless in my area. I tried another pattern, and it was harder even tho it seemed simple. I love your pattern. This will be my go-to every time from here on out.

Thank you so much. I’m using this pattern in wool for some African men and boys who have moved to our area. I like the more dense hdc and sc stitches. Though I’ve been crocheting for decades, I printed the pattern for keeping myself on track as I make 6 or 8 while watching tv. I really like your option of video AND printed option. This is so easy to follow, thank you! My husband has a big head - could you tell me how to make this a little bigger around? I’m assuming I just do another one or two increases (like, get to 88 stitches, maybe) but then I’m unsure how to do the row after I stop increasing. Your next row was 9 hdc then 2, 6 and 2, etc but if I add stitches I don’t think that will work. (I’m new at this, sorry!)
@ByJenniDesigns11 ай бұрын
Hi! Yes, you have the right idea. For 1" larger add 4 hdc increases, 8 for 2". You can just do these in row 11. Just spread them out throughout the row. :)

I tried this beanie using a lightweight 3 merino wool and used a size 4 hook. It was working well until the 11th row. I needed to continue increasing. Is there a magical formula for increasing till we get to the size we want?
@ByJenniDesigns Жыл бұрын
Hi Lynda! Since you are using a different weight yarn, that would be difficult for me to figure out since I've never tried it. About the only advice I can give is to lay the hat flat and measure across and then multiply by 2 to help you with getting the correct circumference. I hope it turns out for you because this would be a great hat in a lighter weight like you are using. 🙂

@ByJenniDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Hi Blair, thank you! To make this hat larger I suggest adding some increases in row 12. As a guide, 4 increases should make the hat about an inch larger in circumference so you might want to try 6-8 increases. 🙂

wonderful tutorial! i just have a question im tryin to make a brim beanie with a similar color but with a white brim instead of the one color, any reccomendations on how to do this?
@ByJenniDesigns Жыл бұрын
Hi & thank you! To do that, I suggest fastening off after row 25 and joining your white for row 26-end. 🙂

Hi, I just came across your channel and wonder if you could tell me what thickness grade this yarn is. I live in Scotland and neither brand you suggest or use are available here, so I need to find an alternative, as I definitely want to make this for my hubby and father in law for Christmas. Thanks so much for your help and your videos. I love that you give not only measurements but also the stitch counts for each row. It is just so important to make sure you are getting it right. So many folks forget to do that. I have just subscribed from this video alone and cannot wait to see what else you make. I am American but moved to Scotland some years ago. Boy do I miss American yarn and their prices as yarn here is just soooo expensive. I was back home in the US last month and hit a couple of craft shops as well as Walmart. I came home with a large suitcase full of yarn, and that is more impressive because my Sister in law loaned me two storage packs that you use the vacuum to suck the air out. And the suitcase was completely full…hubby was relieved as we would have had to buy another suitcase and even doing that with all the yarn costs it would still cheaper than similar yarn! 🤦🏻♀️ Thank you once again. I hope you are staying cool and dry over there. ❤️

Hi Shelley! That's funny about all the yarn you brought home, sounds like something I would do too! The yarn that works best for this pattern is a 4-medium weight but I've also used worsted. With worsted it could turn out just slightly larger so depending what you get for the measurements you could need to go down a hook size. Good luck. 🙂

@@ByJenniDesigns Thank you Jenni! Lol hubby was convinced immigration was going to stop us and I explained anyone that has crocheted for awhile would do the same so they would not be shocked and had probably seen loads of yarn pass through. 😂 So it is good to know I am in good company doing it. When we travel, Hubby is a research scientist so he travels all over the world, I go with him and I always have to bring back a souvenir. If I can find a YS I bring back yarn, if I cannot find one near where we are staying then I come home with seeds for new plants. Since coming home hubby has put me on a yarn and plant/seed buying ban. Silly man thinks that will work 😂 Thank you for the advice for the yarn, I have something appropriate in my stash, so I will begin it tomorrow once hubby has gone to work. I hope you are having a great day! 💙

Haha, yessss, he's very funny trying to push a ban on yarn purchasing. 😂 I about have a yarn store in my house and there's still new colors or weights I need when I start a new project. 😆 Thank you so much, so far so good, I hope you have a great day as well. 🙂

Hii, I tried ur to do it and I'm almost done but the beanie so far looks big? Kind of as if it doesn't any structure if that makes sense. Instead looks more round like a helmet. Idk why. Also do you think I should go down a size with the hook cuz at row like 9 it measured like twice urs so yea 🥳
@ByJenniDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bread Eater, I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, I would suggest trying to go down a hook size.

I love this tutorial, thank you. I wanted a hat pattern made with hdc because I think it's a more closed stitch and thereby a warmer hat. At the 5:55 mark when you measured, my circle measured close to 3". Would I change the stitch count at some point for a men's size?
@ByJenniDesigns Жыл бұрын
Hi Nicole, this pattern is for the men's size and almost a 3" measurement should still be ok. 🙂

Hi Jenni, I'm about halfway done and the width measures 12" across. A little research online indicates almost unanimously that a men's circumference beanie is 23". It seems like this will be too big. I don't mind taking apart what I did to make it smaller. Would you recommend that?
@ByJenniDesigns Жыл бұрын
Oh no, that is measuring a little large. I'm so sorry! Before you pull it out, if you haven't already, try it on your head so you can get an idea of how much smaller you would like it. Then, you can pull out back to row 11 🫤 and remove some of the increases. To decide how many, you'll need to measure across and see how many hdc's make up an inch or two (depending how much smaller you need it).
@keonav10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the pattern! Why does row 11 increase differently than the previous rows? Im using a lighter weight yarn so I need to do more increases and Im trying to figure out how/when to increase. Thanks :)
@ByJenniDesigns10 ай бұрын
Hi! Row 11 increases differently, simply because I needed a certain stitch count for the hat and the math didn't work out perfectly. I have not made this one with a lighter weight than what's in the video, I wish I could be of more help!
@keonav10 ай бұрын
That makes sense! Could I continue increasing by 10 every other row until i get those measurements you gave, or might that mess up the pattern?
@ByJenniDesigns10 ай бұрын
It could work out fine, I hate to say for sure since I haven't done it myself. I'd love to hear how it turns out when you are done!

Wonderful pattern and very easy tutorial to follow. Is there any way I could do this in a single crochet so the gaps aren't as big (they aren't big, I just want them smaller)? Thank you for the video. 😊
