It might've been the beginning of the 5th row after ch 2, then 1DC in each stitch - I figured it out - after ch 2, do a DC in same stitch near hook [counts as 1DC, then DC in next stitch, then DC in next stitch [total of 3DC]; then 2DC in next stitch. I realized at the end of row 5, I was short a stitch and ripped the row to fix it. She goes a bit fast and that row was tricky.

Love the video! I do have a question about the last 8 rounds when not increasing anymore. Do you still chain 2 for each round?
@mountainlakecrochet10 ай бұрын
Great instructions! Very clear for me.However, even with the measurements, when you said this was a “ladies small,” I thought it would be too snug. I added another increase round, made sure it was still 8/8.5 inches in length, as you said, and it was comically big. Big enough to where I had to make another one. 🤦♀️ 😂 The second beanie I made was perfect, at *exactly* 8 inches in length from top to bottom. Including the very first round of 12 double crochet’s, my hat has 12 rounds of double crochet, and I finished it with one round of single crochet for preference, for 13 total rounds. I used standard worsted weight yarn and a 5.5mm hook.

Hi! How many stitches do you have around? As you continue with the rounds without increases the beanie should start to tighten up. If it's not, then you probably have too many stitches around :)

I was working on experimenting as a beginner and I was trying to make a mushroom. I thought a double crochet in each stitch was wrong and so I thought increasing was a good idea 😭. I kept working on it and realized it started to look like a base of a beanie so I had no choice but to continue it 😔.

Would I be able to keep making rows and switch my color so I can fold up at the bottom of the beanie? Would I need to increase the stitch count once I get to that point to make it fit?

Hi! No, you can just keep adding rounds. It should fold up just fine :)

I’ve made a couple of attempts to this now, but no matter which hook size I use it ends up wavy. (5.5 - 5.0 - 4.5) do I still need to go smaller ? Or am I doing something else wrong? Your yarn is thicker than the one I’m working with.

Just curious. Why do so many crocheters pull from the outside of the thread when the instructions say to pull from the inside. It comes out so much smoother and I never have to pull the yarn because it was made to work that way.
@HookedOnHomemadeHappiness2 жыл бұрын
Interesting comment, especially since it's obvious from the video that I did do a center pull. You can see by the way the yarn is wrapped around the outside of the skein. When I did the center pull a big clump came out (which is very typical of this particular brand) so I wrapped it around the skein to keep it from tangling.

What round are you on? It won't stop being a circle until you stop adding increasing. If it's still looking like a circle after that, you can try it with a smaller hook.

When you make your first dc, you make it in the same stitch as the join. So only count the dc, not the 2 chains. When you join at the end of the round, join to the dc, not to the 2 chains.
