BYJU started a business based on unethical practices. The marketing team will convince you that your child is a nit wit and will remain so until you pay a hefty sum to buy their package. They would create a panic among the parents and took advantage of their concern about the future of their children. Such a model is not viable or sustainable in the long run. Byju looks inflated because of investor's money. BYJU had tremendous potential but it is a classic case of wrong priorities, too much greed and the blood sucking tendencies of the so called "Education Manager". These Education Managers would reach their sales target by hook or by crook. Such unethical practices could never thrive in India where the growing middle class is so very concerned about education. One day the bubble had to burst and it did. I think the common masses are happy today. Let this lesson be learnt: BE ETHICAL OR YOU WILL HAVE TO MEET WITH THE SAME FATE.

Over-confidence, rashness in expanding and capturing the market through acquisitions and an over-blown self-esteem generated by his initial success - all led to his fall. He bit more than he could chew ! I had also purchased his product for my daughter. At that time ( about four years back), it cost me Rs.70,000 including the cost of a 7 inches tablet. But later I found that as my daughter got promoted Baiju's have to provide a secret code to open the videos for the new class. At the same time, the videos for the previous class will get blocked and will never be able to be accessed! By the time, my daughter has passed out of 10th Standard, there will be nothing left of the study material ! I wish they have disclosed this before hand. In that case, I would not have purchased it. I would have spent the money for purchasing Encyclopedia Britannica which would have been worth the investment as we could use it for eternity!

I am not a sadist, but I am glad that the start-up bubble is bursting. We have seen attrition in 2021 with people getting 5X offers from Start-Ups with no products, but only a brand name and ideas floating in the market. A niche is unique, but so is the market for the niche. The basic objective of business needs to be generating revenue, profit, and positive cash flows from products and services and not on-paper valuation. Somewhere Start-Ups have forgotten this.

They don't want to do business like genuine person. He might be having billions of dollars in his account. Who cares. When the investors themselves have left the company, now who is there to ask him.

With excess money flow, valuation process relies more on selling future funding rounds vs. Selling future cash flow. Founders’ flamboyance is another reason of such crisis- a moment of truth to test the reckoning.

For Indian startups, one advisor from the government or RBI or sebi or anybody from a regulator should be there in a board. We can't let go off all startup fall and we Indian watching everyday.....job loss, revenue and reputation all we are loosing

@@Human_Being Reputation is built on money, profit and governance practices. If Indian startups are failing then their reputation will tarnish right? Who will invest in us then. Entire market is run on perceptions.

This happens when a job minded person started business with the help of funding. They have poor management skill and poor planning ,they spend money in non-sense work like byjus spend on branding(give money to messi,shahrukh khan If they spend this money on good teachers and open offline center the story may be different. India need more business minded person who started business from ground level.

Byju should not spend so much on Cricket and Football. They should focus more on their teachers (Staff) and children. They should focus more on where they are good. They may not be the richest person, but at least it will be happy company to work for and still he will be a billionaire.

I dont understand economics but as commoner I feel, most of start ups are about 'I, me, myself' any true business champion will tell you 'grow togther'. Yes business owner will make crores but their team also makes lakhs, stable lives and jobs. Start ups are only living on projections and doing anything to meet the projections. You have to deliver too😂😂😂 whatever you promise.

The present state of Byjus was clearly speculated by many in tech sectors. What is that USP / IP impressed those investors? What happened Indian government compliances? Were they not filing their returns ?
@jituladhikary2227 Жыл бұрын
Byjus has a pathetic work culture. They basically treat their sales employees like animals. Byjus gave a new meaning to modern slavery. if byjus operated like that in western countries, .. they would be sued and made to apologies and would have paid a lot in damages. not to mention how parents are forced to pay and how they trap parents who just wants the best for their child. byjus got what it deserves. Byjus pissed of many people in India starting from employees to end customers.

Indian startup failed because tech based startup were just idea based, whose entire eco system runned around apps, investors and freebie. Once more player are in market eventually most of them suffers. What India needed was real tech based startup which needs more time and efforts and long term products

Dear Palki, thanks for another piece of your artwork. As i live abroad, honestly, this is the first time I have ever heard of BYJU‘s name as it means nothing in west or even far east - or maybe beyond the borders of India. Hiring a personality like Messi can be extremely expensive but futile in a case like BYJU because BYJU had become big due to missing competition and affordable cost and not because it was the best in quality. BYJU and Messi are strange bedfellows like celebrating Valentine’s Day with your partner at a Haldiram restaurant.
