The first caller was a prime example of “listening to reply” instead of “listening to understand”.. she was so focused on being right that anytime he tried to give her the information that would have helped her with relationships, she responded with anger/emotions. She would rather listen to someone who is going to agree with her instead of telling her the truth if she was in the wrong. This is a common thing that destroys relationships/marriages in the black community. Your BFF is not always the right person to get advice from when it comes to certain situations. Be smart, listen to understand and keep your circle the same size as wedding ring if you want to have the marriage you dream about.

After repeating this same mistake (which you excellently detailed) for generation after generation, when would you say the conversation changes from "they habitually do not hear/listen to understand" to "they are practicing tyranny and want slaves and servants"?
@rodneydunn81964 жыл бұрын
Adult Supervision I will say this: 1. It starts with doing self reflection. You have to be willing to know that you have flaws about yourself and that’s fine. But if you want your relationship/marriage to grow stronger you have to be willing to change. And this goes both ways for your partner to do some self reflection as well. 2. We have to realize that when we are in a relationship/marriage; there is no such thing as a master/slave relationship.. Why would you want to treat the person you supposed to love and cherish like that; it doesn’t build the kingdom, it takes away from it. At the end of the day, I don’t control my wife and my wife doesn’t control me; we are not animals, we are people.. 3. The beautiful thing about building a relationship that leads to marriage is to have transparency, vulnerability, and communication where both parties are willing to listen to understand so you know why they feel the way they feel. Also, you have to realize that you and your partner have the power to dictate what type of relationship/marriage you want to have but it all starts with “Communication”..

It was amazing to me how people can age, but not grow. When I was growing up, I would look at old guys trying desperately to fit in with the young guys, and older women trying to compete and fit in with the younger girls, and I told myself that I never wanted to be like that because it looked ridiculous! If I would have listened to any of these guys I would have been in a f*cked up place instead of the aged fine wine that I have become. I lived my younger life, now I'm living my adult life with style and grace, while the people I grew up with are just old little boys and girls!

Middle age is the period of age beyond young adulthood but before the onset of old age. Though the exact range is disputed, most sources place middle adulthood between the ages of 45-65. This phase of life is marked by gradual physical, cognitive, and social changes in the individual as they age.
@MisterSinister474 жыл бұрын
I think people start to act that way because once they get older it's closer to being over. Remember; most people didn't live much of a life when they were younger. They didn't do all the things they wanted. So they're trying to play catchup. So they can say they lived their life to the fullest. They don't want to get old and look back and no stories to tell.
