I’m 54 and I haven’t seen another NBA rival like the Lakers-Celtics in the 80s!!!!!!!!!!

And never will!! God sent those 30 or 40 players to the NBA in that 10 years span.... And it happened in the NFL too Same era of athletes

I'm an atheist and I still agree with this. :) All of these things they discuss are true, but highest on my list is the lack of rivalry like these guys had with teams then. That's one of the reasons the game feels like it lacks heart.

Ratings are useless. No one watches TV anymore. The viewing number’s are skewed to create talking points for the piss poor media to get attention it doesn’t deserve. The game is not as good as it was 30 years ago. But it’s just fine outside of the awful officiating.

No. NBA is losing big time. Even players are worried. They are feeling the financial effect of ignoring the old fans that left.

People still watch football so that's not true. And that sport has also changed and still hasn't dropped off like the NBA. People still watch baseball too and that sport takes the whole damn day lol

That's the point. Everyone who says this doesn't take into account the fact that only the NBA is having these problems. NFL players prefer injury to the bench. NBA top level stars regularly don't want to play when healthy. That's it. Fans take that as disrespectful to them if they pay, and disrespectful to the game even if they can't afford to go to a game. Football softened the game and added safety equipment. They gave a leg up to offense over defense in the rules to push scoring. They did those things before the NBA ever did, and they keep getting higher ratings across the board. The NBA is living off of growth OUTSIDE of the US, while the US viewership is dying. That's the only reason they can ignore it as long as they have, with global money coming in they are still making lots of cash. Which means they had time to fix it, maybe still do before too many incoming classes of players grow up in this alternate gameplay.

that's what happens when you draft 18-19 year old's on potential no skills.
