This exciting coverage of the Byron Wheelstand Contest October 3rd 2021 is one of the best drag racing events ever! Hike up the Wheelie Bars and rev up the engines to crank out the best wheelie possible. You will see the legend Chris Pearce in his orange-ish red Ford Pinto (Chinto) crank out a 400+ foot wheelie to try and win this event for the $10,000 cash prize offered at Byron Dragway in Byron Illinois.

Thank you buddy! This race almost didn't go off, there was a huge rain delay and when they dried the track off there was a storm coming in hot and they had to get this all done as quick as possible. I was happy to just be able to get a video out of it all. ha ha. Thanks again buddy.

I like that a lot of the cars doing this event looks like they're straight from the 90s. Perfect example is the grand prix or maybe an oldsmobile but that purple and pink paint job looked right out of a hot rod magnet.

As guy who knows nothing I'm wondering is there any special modifications to the frame that you have to do to make this work. It just seems like you would destroy your car on landing.

Most drag cars already have stiff or supported frames but the big deal is the shock towers and the type of shock you run on these cars. Depending on the type of car you most likely need to reinforce the shock area for the hard landings and make sure it doesn't blow through the sheet metal holding it in. And they type of shock that is best is one that has a lot of travel to absorb the landing and not have the body of the car take the hit. Thanks for watching! Tom
