@@hodaniel8109 Tai chi chuan now days is beautiful Wushu.... Athletics and more gymnastics...... The original TaijiChuan Of course was more practical , no need for low stances such as that..... But again... The point of Wushu is to show control of body, mind and spirit.... Not for Life and death situation. The purpose of martial arts is not purely for Self defence because it not meant to be used in a Ring pounding people... MMA and EFF is used for that. So we have to discern the reason for all of these arts... For Violence and street , MMA, Guns, Knives, Eskirma and more non Form/Kata arts. Tai Chu Chuan has a long history of Cultivation and development of spirit and Qi.... Its totaly different to brawling and beating people... I always see people comparing saying this is useless or that is useless in a fight..... But that is not the case... its just what does one want to achieve in life.... Only to Beat another person over the head and go to jail or... to cultivate and look after the body and spirit and enjoy peace..... A big take away "The reason for doing things are all different.... Don't compare things to things when their goals are totaly different." Yes this will loose against a person who street fights all the time and loves violence..... But this will win against Health, Spirit and calm mind with a Goal of living long and not dying in a fight and therefore it becomes the Winner in the end.

@@SteveMe21685 You're absolutely wrong. All of these movements have martial applications, and with correct power, some of them are potentially deadly. You are so very wrong....this is not just a dance. I can't believe your ignorance here. You really shpuld not be commenting on something you clearly know nothing about. Aside from getting the name "Wushu' right, to describe hard and soft martial art. This is a fighting form and sequence - the demonstration of internal and explosive power, weighting and alignment here is flawless. You're showing total disrespect and cluelessness with your comment.
@SteveMe216854 жыл бұрын
Authentic Selection I am absolutely aware that the form has fighting applications and what internal martial arts is. I have experienced REAL internal martial arts and I know how incredible it is. This is NOT real internal martial arts. Yes you may think that there’s martial applications from this form but I guarantee if you or the guy in the video tried to use them you would get spanked like the little biatch that you are....THAT is why I will continue to laugh. Take your entitled outrage elsewhere
@authenticselection42484 жыл бұрын
@@SteveMe21685 Well, in that case, you know that this more than just a dance. Yes, it's an exhibition form, but break down the components of this, and you know full well that aspects of this Wushu presentation are derived from various forms of Tai Chi, primarily Chen, but also Wu'u, Yang and Sun. If you're so experienced with internal forms, how can you possibly not see that components of this are potentially lethal used in a martial context. I fail to understand how you cannot recognise this if you are so experienced.
@SteveMe216854 жыл бұрын
Authentic Selection haha you think just because someone can do a martial form that it means they are a competent martial artist? You’re probably just like me 15-20 years ago when I use to go to my local taiji school thinking I was learning something special and esoteric only to later find out it was total garbage and all we ever did was forms. That’s all a nonsense school ever does is forms. That’s why I post negative comments on videos like this so people like you can learn from my mistakes. Internal martial arts is very real, it is amazing, and it is also extremely hard to find. I wish you the best of luck and always question if what you’re learning is practical. If you’re not constantly doing push hands and sparring than you’re not learning anything about fighting

@hm20111005 жыл бұрын
chrisrushlau you’re right this is a common trope in the modern gym paradigm but actually the old world of martial arts and the new world of ‘movement’ led by Ido portal, fighting monkey etc has challenged that thinking. If the body can go there, it’s ok and even desirable to use, preserve and extend full range as long as you “prehab”

@@hm2011100 Thank you and I'm started to get back to my 24-stance Beijing routine after years of worrying about knees, especially, and it seems to be exactly as you suggest: don't exaggerate the movements, don't make them letter-perfect, do what's comfortable, but do the stance correctly, and I'm finding I have more range/flexibility than I had before (without hurting myself).
@kepheramanjet32445 жыл бұрын
The knees should be strengthened and stretched. Practicing a deeplow arch armed Qigong can help archive this goal. Also beginners should learn Taijiquan in a low stance to help build knee and leg strength and endurance.

G C yes! In my shaolin academy, we learn the ‘applications’ of each move in the form and then at gradings, must perform each individual application in between doing the form multiple times... timed. This heightens understanding of what the form means and also compels the practitioner to constantly switch from the slowness of tai qi to the strength & forcefulness of kung fu
