I don't totally understand the strategic terms. If I were looking to start within the next 5 months, when would you recommend I start?

As close to October as possible without passing it, so 5 months from now. That would mean that you would start toward the end of one fiscal year. So if you started in April, you could take a 6 month term and end in October. You could take a break from November through February, then do 6 months in the 2020 fiscal year. You could then take a break from September through November and start your third term in the 2021 fiscal year. Make sense?

Yes. That works, but then keep in mind that your next term would be oct-mar, then you could take apr-jun off, but then the term after that would be jul-dec, which would be in the same fiscal year as your oct-mar term (term 2) so you would have to pay some out of pocket. If you look at the scholarships, though, you will save some money.

@@BytePen okay so if the rule of thumb is to apply close to October , does the following make fiscal sense for someone not trying to pay no more than resource fees ? I am pushing starting early to mid March (March- Aug) because of a Clep . Firstly I want to dip my toe in the water for the very first term as to not potentially over extend myself , I found out WGU offers part time rates to active duty military , does the AF cover this completely through TA ? At around 5:20 in your video it seemed like no? My overall question is a current year 6 month term (March-August) just to reapply for TA this October to hit the "next fiscal year" cycle a good plan ? Based off your previous comment are you saying that TA money does not just replenish every October , i mean if I am done with classes in august why cant i just get next fiscal years money even if they fall in the same calendar year ?

@@thebox2278 so this video came out before they started doing part time for military members. It has been a little while since I've done the part time math, but I couldn't make it make financial sense. That said, if you are able to stay under $4500 between a part time semester and a full time semester in one fiscal year, go for it! If not, I would have to crunch the numbers again, but just keep in mind that you will get $4500 to use from 01OCT2020 until 30SEP2021. If you start 01OCT2020, then you will have a second full term in 2020. I believe I would recommend doing a part time Mar-Aug, then either a part time or full time Sep-Feb, depending on how it works with the TA. After that, take a break from Mar-May and start again in June.
