Yeah if he doesn't have a scholarship then it's probably the best thing for him. Starter on a good big 12 team can get a scholarship somewhere.

I have a dumb question, but I was wondering with what AJ is getting paid in basketball for NIL, is that a one-time payment that occurs when a player commits? What happens to that money if a player leaves the program early to go somewhere else?

Can’t blame Wakely for portaling if he’s not on scholarship. I like wakely, but I don’t know if byu cares… the safety room is deep and scholarships and NIL need to be reserved for the lines. I hope things work out. I would hate for wakely to end up at utah

Agreed - power play in order to get a scholarship. School may have not had a way to give him without him going to Portal. I don't know the rules around Scholarships and the limitations. Plus NIL will PAY him

Wakley is not a BYU guy. He rooted against them growing up and was a transfer from Utah State. Hurts that he’s transferring, but I can’t blame him considering the musical chairs they played at safety to keep them happy and the fact the he still wasn’t on scholarship. Likely didn’t feel appreciated by the coaching staff 🤷🏾‍♂️ Wakley’s transfer has been the only fumble Jay Hill has had 😔

Let me start by saying I’m not particularly interested in Isaac coming, as I wasn’t a huge fan of his brother. That said, Isaac was setup to fail by the Utah staff. I don’t think he would be a bad get by the RIGHT team. Is BYU that team?…. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@spinfish-4355 in other words. Throwing a true freshman out there as the #2 qb, knowing rising will get hurt at some point. Then letting him keep playing while also hurt. All the while the entire fan base turning on him. Don't get it twisted, the fans are as much to blame as the coaches.

Two words….honor code. I’m sure he has not been living up to the honor code and before he gets caught or “confesses” and gets kicked out, he’s like, nah, I’ll just transfer.

Clearly you don’t know Crew and didn’t listen to this episode. He was a walk-on and had not been given a scholarship even after becoming a starter. He has earned receiving a scholarship, if not at BYU then he should go somewhere else to get paid.

Oh sorry I forgot I was dealing with an ASU guy....go back and read the comment...slowly...never said we had the lead never said you blew it. I said you ALMOST blew an 18 PT lead...twice. The game was in jeopardy... twice...that...I would argue....is not running on a team. See you next year!😉
