The fish with vertical dark stripes resemble Sargo fish along Southern California coasts. We catch them with line and hook using the insides of clam, mussel or ghost shrimps in very shallow water where waves rush to the beach. They are very good eating fish, Latinos and Orientals (Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipino, etc.) catch them in late spring and summer. Some Sargo grew to 1 kg in weight. 😃😉😎
