Small results can feel huge for me. It might sound weird, but sometimes being kinder to myself is hard. Kindness is what I give to others. Now I need it for me.

People often ask me how they love themselves and the first thing to tell them is 'you know all that attention you have given others, all the help you gave and giving others what they needed, validating their feelings, apologizing to them, forgiving them, accepting them? Now give it to yourself.'

When I was with a narcissist, I constantly heard self-talk that I hated myself. It took a long time to understand that the darkness came from trying to bond with someone who was incapable of love. Since blocking the narc, the darkness has lifted.

Hi David. I completely agree with you. It was like invasion of body and soul snatchers being married to a malignant narcissist I thankfully divorced. I became someone I didn’t like, compromising and giving up my authentic self..values, morals, integrity ,My passions ,altruism,and what made me who I am .I sacrificed spending time with my family and friends.. becoming a zombie of the person I was just to match the low vibration of mine and my children’s worst enemy..

Hi Nancy! Good to see you and thank you. We lose ourselves to stay with narcissists. They dont live or care for what we need or how we feel and we compromise who we are and throw our values out the window. The closer we are to ourselves, the better choices we make and know how to make ourselves happy.

Hey, good luck with that! Committing and investing is how you change what you want. Give it a chance and try hard, its not easy but it will pay off. You will get something out of it no matter what.

Thank you David. I cried a fair bit listening to this. The truth hurts I guess. I thought I was almost there after no contact for 4 years. Unblocking out of curiosity cost me the past few weeks. Just talking to my abuser triggered so much again. I guess some people take a long time to learn. I must be one of them. Love hearing you each week David.

I’ve been dealing with so much since I was 15, I don’t speak to anyone about this because I feel like no one understands me, people usually say that others have it harder, like this is nothing I’ve been educating myself thank you for this… makes me feel like I’m not alone I just want to heal and reset my mind from all the trauma, be happy.

David.... Could you treat Cptsd with SSRIs aka antidepressants? I am thinking of starting with antidepressants because sometimes I can't function and just want to isolate myself. I get too afraid to even go out because of the panic attacks and the feeling that I can't breathe. Constant air hunger that started when I was with my narcissistic ex. I also dissociate a lot. It's like I'm stuck in a constant fight or flight mode. Some days are so good tho, thankfully it has gotten so much better. 2 years after leaving him. 🙏 But the bad days, are really, really, bad.

Hi David, Wisconsin is my location... I want your opinion please, recently out of the blue my ex texted me and says, some law firm contacted me looking for you, I said nothing! Then shortly after sends various texts asking me why are you giving out my number, Why are " people calling my phone asking for you?" I never gave anyone his number and yes I asked him who after being silent for a bit and he says companies! LOL... OKAY and get this back in the spring I was mailed his phone bill... I let him know and said would put his correct address on and send out, he claimed it never came.... then! less than 2 weeks ago I was mailed another one and sent this one out too as well, he has not lived with me here for over 2 years and I never get any other mail of his... please give me some insight as to what you think about this, Why? What is he doing, he always payed his bill on line and would tear it up in the past because by the time he was mailed the paper bill it was already taken care of!

Hi David , what is the difference between a borderline ,a narcissist & a Histrionic ? They all seem to be the same just want to know what is the distinct difference . Thank you Michele From New York ….
@daviddemars
@daviddemars 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michelle, thank you for asking and great timing. I am publishing 2 videos today that both describe subtypes of BPD and NPD. I made a video a month ago explaining the differences between HPD and BPD. And I have a video tomorrow explaining the differences between BPD and NPD. Enjoy and thank you! Borderline gives everything to someone and a very unstable sense of self. The Narcissist has a false self and enjoys exploiting people. The Histrionic must be the center of attention and cannot be told their wrong. Just a few differences here but so many more I explain in the videos I suggested.
