The US deficit in the financial year of 2009 was $1.4 trillion. In the financial year of 2016, it was $587 billion. This was done *while* the US was in economic recession at the point that Obama took over, as well as being involved in a large war. He ended his terms with a stock market that has almost doubled, a booming housing market, and a greatly scaled down war.

Bailing the economy out of the recession, spending on investment where the private sector stopped, boosting economic confidence. A budget deficit and government spending are not indicators of poor economic stewardship in times of downswings. Except for extraordinary circumstances, the government needs to spend rather than save in troughs in order to balance out reduction of investment by the private sector of the economy - and there was a lot of that in 2008 - to boost household confidence and return private spending and investment to desired levels. Complaining about government spending - provided the money is spent on economic investments rather than consumption - is akin to wanting the government to let the economy deteriorate further. Technically, if anything is to blame, it would be the good business sense of corporations and households who backed out of the US economy prior to, during, and after the GFC due to a loss of confidence in the US economy. Hence, to answer the general question of where any and all government spending goes to in times of downswings, it was put toward filling up the investment hole that the private sector left.

Wealthy Americans are the most charitable in the world, my last girl friend donated over $100,000,000 to hospitals in Houston in one year, and all of our friends hosted charity parties every month to help the needy and poor. Now you can thank Obama to putting an end to that wonderful contributing group. In one year alone my friends help raise over $1 billion dollars for charities, match that with the government crappy hand outs. Obama Promised everyone a check, have you got yours yet?

More than a few! I don't consider it a "shadow", i suppose because i work through that. I do see your point, however, it's just a choice of words. Markets are complex, i think most people don't realize what they really are or what they do. It takes on a completely different way of looking at money, more involved and dynamic than most would realize. This has been building for some time, no surprise to those involved. The markets can look "good" or "bad" depending on your point of view!

I'm saying there are no cons in wanting to give health care to people. Yes. As well as there are no cons in saving someone's life. There are a reason to find new solutions and new ways.

So a car, house, clothes, health insurance and an education are not necessary? You need a car to get to work at the very minimum... you also need a place to stay in. Clothes are not optional since you will get arrested without them and health care is necessary so you don't die. About the only thing that you can get by without is the education. In any case, clothes, a car, a roof on your head and health insurance are necessary in the US, but the slaves can't afford them!

I paid over $55 Million in taxes over the years, I would have much rather paid that to charities that actually help the people who really need it. Rich people love to be charitable to honest people who need it I would rather give to them than a government that spends it on fish hachiers. That is the difference, taking if from me I will find a way to not give it, given the opportunity I will freely give to people who honestly need it and I have given tons of money to the right Charities

You have to balance the initial budget with the savings made on the long term and then you have the real cost of it. And you have to take in consideration the billions wasted in the long term to evaluate the cost of the status quo. well you make a good point, but every so often congress and the president have HELPED people get back on track. which isn't the same as doing it for them. What Obama and Congress must do is create programs that help people to help themselves. and to his credit some of the stuff in the stimiulus does do that, just not enough in my opinion.

Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream has introduced a new flavor: " Barocky Road ." It is a blend of half vanilla, half chocolate, and surrounded by nuts and flakes. The vanilla portion of the mix is not openly advertised and usually denied as an ingredient. The nuts and flakes are all very bitter and hard to swallow. Its $100.00 per scoop. It will be presented to you in a beautiful cone, but after you pay for it, the ice cream is taken away and given to the person in line behind you at no charge.

oh and in 2004 gas prices only got over a $2.00 average exactly 2 weeks out of the entire year: May 24-June 6. and that's from the Energy Information Administration a US government website.

I always try to listen to the other side to gain perspective of my own opinions regarding politics. Regarding health care, the other side is completely lost and the democratic leader has no plan what so ever. The great orator has proven once again that even he cant stand before congress and state the democratic plan. OMG!

When you fling around the word Socialist like its a bad thing, you are referring to National Socialists, or NAZI's which merely used the word socialism to instill an idea that the nazi party was for the people, but they werent. They were for THEIR people, and Hitler was a dictator, not a socialist. Public school taught me the difference between a Dictator and a Socialist. By the way, Public School is a SOCIALIST program, which educates the vast majority of America.
