It is July 2024. Back in 2004 during the DNC we had the TV on I remember being in the kitchen preparing some food and I could hear this on in the background. The more he spoke the less I could focus on the work to be done in the kitchen. More and more I started to listen to what this man was saying. I had never heard of him before that time. By the time he got half way through this speech I was standing in front of the TV captivated by his words and how he was delivering them. When he was done I had tears of joy in my eyes with the realization that great days awaited us if only he would choose to run for president. He did. We did. I wish we could have this again. Vote.

This was my exact experience 20 years ago. In the kitchen, it was on and I wasn't paying attention. Then I heard this voice and eventually made my way to be front and center of the TV. Standing there. For the first time in my life, choking up over a politicians speech. It was unlike anything I ever heard.

My story is similar than yours. My wife isn't in politics, so I was watching the dummy box while working at something on my computer. After a few minutes, I sat back and began listening to him, (By the way, I'm Canadian). At one point I yelled at my wife who was doing whatever she was doing in the house, to come and listen to this scrawny kid. When she walked in, her first comment was: "WHAT???" To which I replied: "You see this guy? He will be the first black president. He want's me to be an American. I want to live in the America that he's talking about!"

Aka, stop making excuses and victimhood. FAR cry from the Dems of 2020. He also didnt condemn White Supremacy or even acknowledge "systemic racism". If Trump made this exact same speech, he'd be called a Nazi, White Supremacist sympathizer, and his comments about "learning to read isnt acting white" would be taken as a "dog whistle". Maybe do a little research before leaping to conclusions based on what a politician says. They're politicans for a reason - they lie seamlessly. Obama's father is idealized as a great man who worked hard and walked the right path who dreamed of enabling his son's dreams. Read Obama's actual auto-memoir "The Color of Water". His dad was a wife beating deadbeat who left his son during his infancy. Obama spent less time with his father than people spend sitting next to a guy on the train on a morning commute. Deductive thinking - if he's able to so seamlessly lie about the most basic foundations of his identity and family, what else is (or isn't) he lying about?
