I agree on all said , biggest thing I see at are club with high end PCPs 1500/2k is pellets spend all that and they turn up with the free tin of pellets that came with this riffle

best advice i have seen -- the only thing I can add is don't go all rip the rifle apart looking for fault straight away (easy way to be I may add) leave it till the next session of shooting and have a defined check procedure and do not deviate from it, it is all too easy to try to do too much and end up lost from your start point with a weapon that is behaving worse -- good shooting guys and thanks again gary dam good info

Thanks Gary, I had an issue once with my tx, which randomly started to get bad groups then I noticed my suppressor had loosened after several shots which caused the bad groups. Something to watch out for. 😅

Hello Gary, as yet, I have not seen any videos, (well only a few) on slow mo pellet actions leaving the barrel on a springer or pcp. Regarding possible reasons for pellet flyers, barrel bounce on springers and different hold actions and weights used on the front of the barrel to help compensate this.

I looked at hiring a Phantom slow motion camera, it was £400 for the day. I have tried using phones and then slowing things down in edit, i just cant get things slow enough. A friend is getting a Iphone 16 and apparently that has a great slow mo camera

Good video Gary, the biggest thing I notice is that people think they have pellets that group in zero wind, and then as soon as there is a breeze of any sort there pellets are like a shotgun group. Grouping at 40 is step one then testing that pellet in the wind is step two. I hear people talking about 2 Mildots of movement in 10mph crosswind that for me means that pellets is crap or you are trying to fire that pellet to fast and it isn’t stable therefore takes more wind.

Another thing can be the barrel band or extras fitted to the gun causing the issue, take it back to stock, check the barrel band and it should help if all other tests fail 👍

It was a twist on my profession.. I am an engineer by trade, a sarcastic guy said decades ago "Engineers... Aren't they the guys that drive trains..." clearly not, but it suck. Mobile Electrical service Engineer by day and traindriver by KZbin. I did meet you in the Welsh open this year, you interviewed me as a Marshall for the course, keep up the good work Gary and I will see you again soon 😁👍

Gary! What would you consider an average group for a skilled shooter at 50 meters, fenced garden, 177, air arms s510 carbine and tactical, 10 rounds one target???? still loving the channel mate.

Advice please. I have had to replace the piston washer in my Express .177 today. It slid into the chamber so free & easy I was sure the power would be low. However, it is knocking out around 820fps and 12 1/2flb with 8.44gr pllets. Is this normal with a new washer and will it calm down once I`ve put a couple of hundred pellets through it ? I don`t want to take it to the range incase I bump in to plod. Great advice Gary, this video should be kept for reference.

I onkly use Iron Sights! My shots resemble a shotgun at times! It is ME!! However....The pivot for the Chamber to the Breech-Block is critical! It seems more critical on my 127 Fienwerk bau!. My 99s goes off till I tighten the pivot. The Fienwickbau has to be tighter!...Warton Lancs LA5

@garychillingworth
@garychillingworth Ай бұрын
Absolutely, if it does well with 451's and 452's you have a barrel that would love 451.5's Truth is, some barrels aren't pellet fussy, my TX isn't

hi, does 20fps difference on the chrono make a difference to zero.

At short distance up to 20yards not really, but at 45yards it will add around 5cm to the pellet drop

Hi Gary how do you know what pellet head size to chose as both my barrels 177 says 4.50 and 22 says 5.5 no mention of head size at all ...
@andynutting25
@andynutting25 Ай бұрын
That's just their standard marking for the rifles ones a .177 (4.5mm) and the other is a .22 (5.5mm) the head sizes are dependent on the pellet not the rifle. But a 4.51mm (.177) may group better than 4.52mm head size. Is down to your barrel which it prefers. So you'll need a chronograph and different pellets and head sizes then do some testing on them.
