Everyone seems to be going this route, and it does make sense for so many reasons. That being said, I do sometimes miss seeing more traditional builds, but they are getting rarer and time is making even gen1 5.7 vortec engines pretty worn to buy used. Last of the 5.7 is what, 20 years old? LS stuff is everywhere, and is pretty cheap.

You will find the steering wheel is really close to the seat. You will barely fit in between the seat and the steering wheel. Find a motor home tilt steering column from any GM chassis motor home and it will hook right up. You may have to cut an inch or so off the shaft and add a U-Joint, but the motor home steering columns are a welcomed addition to these and very easy to swap.

In the day, I was a kid fifty plus years ago and if you owned a chevy car then your cool and since I was a bad boy on a old flat head harley (I miss that) I went ford just to piss people off. I was the very best mechanic around that area and they sucked it up and I built what they wanted and more. None the less I kept my 57 ford fairlane tudor with custom interior and 427/four speed posi etc. And I won lots a races as I put bucks into and had two wrecking yard sponsors (great big help)..That LS engine is the shit in no other terms as chevy got it right and just think the money if half ass had helped you wire the first one as his flavor soda and some laughs and been done with no stress cheep. My suggestion as you read before working working in that 60x80 shop (don't we wish) still be cold but some room and you don't suffer OCD so stuff gets done.... Okay finish a sentence: I would unbolt the cab and clip and set it on back of the truck temporarily, set engine and trany as a combo making sure it will clear cab when it comes back and make headers an stuff a go and the snug it all home again ... gotta be a way to mark it off well so you don't get too close but those dingos slide to fit and you still maybe good to go if not just temp set ahead to mount cab again (your a sharp tac and been working in a space most people couldn't put a weeks grub)I just like setting them down in place and in a perfect world thats what you do but well your world may not be perfect but your a happy person (no prozac bottles laying around) Burn some herb and figure it out. I got my caretaker coming down to my place to watch as he can't change a spark plug but he loves your videos : his words... Leave it on! I like watching this, he can't turn a computer on but enjoys them. Give me a year and he will have one and then you will have a new subscriber.
