Began working the drivers door and fender to get them straight. Discussed some of the blocks and sandpaper I use. #c10, #blocking, #body work

Man I have watched everyone of Ur videos. N every time I watch U block with a paint stick I thought that's a hell of a lot of work! I'm repainting an 05 dodge cummins quad cab long bed for a buddy N decided to try it on many of body work repairs on the HOG! Probably one of the best BLOCKS n METHODS I've ever tried. If U want glass that is an amazing option. Thanks for the Insight! U do amazing work by the way.

Enjoyed another good video about an industry that I'm passionate about. I've discovered that packing materials inside automotive sheet metal parts boxes often have great block sanding materials. Hyundai parts boxes for example have dense black foam rubber pads that make great flexible sanding blocks. I will cut them to the desired shape with a table saw. General motors boxes may have a larger white cellular foam that can be used. The sticky sandpaper from whatever brand you like does work very well. As does the hook and loop. But you'll need special proprietary blocks for it , but the advantage is that if the paper isn't spent it can easily be reused later. I LOVE the '67 - '72 C10's can't wait to see the results!

Good to know, thanks for the info. Yeah I had a section where I talked about hook n loop style blocks and paper but I messed it all up and ended up cutting it out, lol. Thanks for watching!

Great video’s, they are very helpful. Could you please provide what grit paper you use at each step?

To lightly block over the epoxy in the beginning to highlight dents, I use 180 or 320. Then I sand the areas I’m going to put filler with 80 or 180 trying to leave as much epoxy on as possible. Once I apply filler and it dries, I do the initial shaping with 80 to get it close, then switch to 120 to cut out the 80 scratches and prime it for the first time. I usually block the VP 2050 primer with 120, fill any remaining low areas with filler, sand the filler with 120 and prime again with VP 2050. It should be really close to straight by then so I block with 180 and put 2k high build urethane primer on top. Hopefully by then it’s ready to sand for paint. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Is it ok to just use the palm of your hand with sandpaper to sand panels?
@StoutCustom
@StoutCustom 3 жыл бұрын
Yes but only when it doesn’t matter or your palm is the shape you want to achieve. Shape of the block =shape of the panel.
