I have always liked the flex fans. But the simple truth is that there is alot more engineering in the oem fan. Drilling new holes in a pulley is gutsy.

@@alberthodge631 I agree! I figured I’d try drilling and if it didn’t work, oh well… I have machine shops I could use - or maybe find a product that would work. The specific fitment of the Corvette makes adding newer style pulleys quite challenging.

Replace the factory 5 blade fan with a factory 7 blade fan. It’s a direct swap and you can use the existing clutch.

I have the original fan on my 69 with no issues.

Why don’t you change the thermostat to a 160 degree or a180 that will bring your temperature down
@thedrivewayC3Ай бұрын
@@stevenmello866 It’s a 180 now and it was running cooler before, so I need to figure out what the issue is, but I could remove and check it, just to make sure there are no issues. It’s running just over 200 now, so not too bad. Still would like to see 180-190

Is there some fan shroud components missing? Seems like there's a lot of open are around the shroud that should be closed off to help direct air to the fan. Beautiful work! The tach seems to be moving with the chirping, maybe the tack cable needs lube?
@thedrivewayC3Ай бұрын
@@jhuntosgarage Thanks for your input. The shroud is 100% stock and sealed all around. No missing parts that I’m aware of. I’m thinking it may be a timing issue that’s contributing to the heat. Most components are new, but I’ll have a mechanic take a look. The chirping goes away when the clutch is depressed, so I think it’s related to the Trans/Thrust bearing. We’ll see!

@thedrivewayC3 That makes sense. Watching from Florida. Thanks for sharing!

What type of temperture sending unit are you using? They make a big difference in the temp reading.
@thedrivewayC3Ай бұрын
@@gtuttle4 The original style. It’s new.
@paul4uscАй бұрын
Are you fairly sure that your temp gauge is reading accurately? I'm assuming you have a properly calibrated sender (since some replacements aren't right)
@thedrivewayC3Ай бұрын
@@paul4usc I’m not 100% sure; however, it was reading lower before I made some changes to the pulleys as well as adding the Power Steering. I might go ahead and add another temp gauge. There are lots of options these days. Thanks for asking.
