I’m a 57 yo stay at home mom resto-modding a 74 Corvette by myself and I could have sworn you had a vid of you removing and installing a gas tank by yourself on here, but I can’t find it, I need that. And your vid on rebuilding the c3 headlight actuators really helped me out a couple years ago! Thanx!

Since it is a 1986, hopefully your instructions will help me to replace the power antenna in my 1984 Olds Cutlass Calais. This was back when the Calais was NOT a front wheel drive econobox.

This weekend, I was at a yard sale and the guy running the sale pulled his 78 vette out of the garage onto the street. So I talked to him about it and he said it was for sale for $7,000. It needs a small repair on the corner of the nose where someone backed into it at a car show. It looks like driver quality. He started it right up and it sounded great. It is an automatic. Interior is a bit worn. I just don't know enough about vettes to know if it's a good deal or not.

Great video! PLEASE do a video on the disassembly of an early C3 manual shifter. Let's say if someone were replacing a shifter boot and had to disassemble the shifter knob and such.👍

I've put them both the first gen C4 1984-89 and the second gen C4 1990-96 and the second gen is easier and has a better factory antenna. Some of those aftermarket ones aren't worth the money.

So the black blue and red wired aftermarket antennas wont work with original wiring, good to know. Need same factory style wired antenna. Thanks

I have an issue with a 82 antenna. I’m sure it’s a quality issue.

I think the bigger frustration is that Chevrolet made the ground wire switch colors. I see less fault in the shop technician who is applying traditional understanding of red and black wires, unless they say that they are a Corvette shop.

I think my relay isn't working correctly. When unit is off the white wire is hot. yet when i turn the radio on the gray wire becomes hot and white not. it might make the antenna go up. But what will cause it to come back down? If no power except white wire. will a c4 relay work if I take the wires out and convert them to where they belong. So the pins are same as c3 pins?
@louiscyphre60496 ай бұрын
So... how would you hook up the after market wires red, blue, black. To the factory wires green, white, and gray??
@TheCorvetteBen6 ай бұрын
You need to buy the correct antenna, the one with the green, white and grey wires. The other one won't work with that wiring layout

Easy to use the new style in a C4,you just have to connect at the relay. Everything you need is right there.

this is off topic, but is there an easy way to replace the cooler lines for transmission on 77 c3 vette?

If you're using an aftermarket radio couldn't you just wire the modern one to the radio, then power, and ground the antenna?

Thanks for the explanation, however you were very unclear (omitted) on how the green, white and black wires "swap" over to raise or lower the antenna, once wired in.

The only reason it's different than the rest of the industry is because GM is lazy and design and manufacture ultra low quality stuff.
@TheCorvetteBen Жыл бұрын
Dont think it is laziness, I think it is the age of the cars. In the 80s the "normal" antenna that everyone is used to didnt exist.
