Thanks for the great video tutorials. At first, my snow fell out of the container, but then after reading the answer to the same problem I fixed it, there was also a problem in the fact that the snow fell in a whole piece - it was necessary to change in the dynamics body tag - the coliosion - individual elements for all. Thanks again!

helpful tutorial , I just don't know why you offset z-direction to make snowflake higher not the y direction (video started from 18:48).
@robmaric3 жыл бұрын
i am puzzled by this exact same thing!
@robmaric3 жыл бұрын
Actually I understand it now. When you clone something to an object surface (imagine a sphere covered in snow flakes) you move each little snowflake clone in/out from the sphere on its own little Z axis. It's not so obvious in this video because we're mapping it to a nearly flat surface so it looks like they are all moving up in the same direction. They are all moving on their own little z-axis away from the surface.

SNOWFLAKES FALL OFF PROBLEM ( at least in my case 😂). Guys, I would just like to share the solution which worked for me. Follow all steps precisely, triple check the settings of both tags (rigid body for the container and collision body for the snowflakes cloner). I had everything exactly the same, I was going crazy until: - Make sure that you set the Z coordinate 1 cm up of the cloner in the TRANSFORM instead in the COORDINATES tab. Hopefully it works for you as well :)

Mine didn´t work for some reason. Particles keep falling off the ground layer, and the container duplicate. I don´t know why. I´m gonna try a different approach, one that I create a sphere, converted to polygons with the bottom poligons cut and with a cloth surface for thickness, then duplicate the ground and make it a colider body and see if it´s going to work. But so far, no succes lol.

Little mistake in that. Never close a spline that will be used in a lathe like this - it should be open along the lathe axis so you don't create erroring geometry. Also, if you use discs instead of platonics for flakes; not only is that much less polys, but you can also make them react to 2-sided aerodynamics rather like snow does ! But 2 small points in an otherwise excellent and very clear tutorial :)

I bought the Project file but cinema tells me i'm missing 5 plugins so i can't render the project
@CGShortcuts4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, the project file uses the Octane plugin for rendering so you'll need that. If you contact us through our website we can help;)

I always use Octane to render these and because not everyone has access to the plugin, I don't always go through the process (as it's often the same steps each time). If you want to see exactly how I've done the lighting and texturing, all the final render ready project files (which include all the lighting, materials and render settings) can be downloaded from our website: cgshortcuts.com/product/snow-globe-render-ready/ or our Patreon page: www.patreon.com/cgshortcuts . We also have an in-depth course about lighting, texturing and rendering here cgshortcuts.com/product/octane-ultimate-masterclass/ ;) Thanks for watching!
