Visually, new drilled and slotted rotors were actually a big change I wasn't anticipating making as much of a difference as it did. Perfect combo with a little paint

Getting away from the standard red is a great idea. My C5 is triple black. I did the calipers black. Looks awesome.

I hadn't thought about painting the rotor hats and the caliper brackets, that adds a subtle but noticeable difference.

You left out an important item on the caliper paint.....how did you maintain the silver lettering?

Crap, if only I could edit the video on KZbin, but you can't. I wiped it off with solvent while the blue was still sticky. Then I gave it a quick shot of clear coat.

@@Toys4Life When I did my C6 in yellow I waited until dry and used a razor blade and scraped it across the letters. Looked on from 20 feet but close up? Not so much.

@@nyerngaSince they're raised any reason you can't just use sandpaper or a flat file to remove any remaining paint? The letters should shine like new then.

Sandpaper would etch the shine off

I’ve used Carmex lip balm (stick version) on them, paint as usual and wiped it off with a rag from the letters after. Works like a champ!

Thanks for the kind words! I bought the C6 about a year ago and I kind of rotate the five and the six, I thought maybe I'd sell one of them but I love them both. I don't think I've met anybody yet who doesn't like the A&A kit!! I'll have to get rid of one of them before I get a c8 though. 😂

How did you highlight the Corvette lettering after you painted the caliper? They look awesome!

I lightly sanded them first as they are raised, and then once I painted them my wiped them off gently with solvent, and then I clear coated the whole thing. Glad you like them!

I have a LeMans Blue 04 Commemorative Edition. Looking to paint my Calipers. Please give me some color recommendations (including the color of the Corvette lettering)! Currently, all of my lights are smoked and I have the hyper silver C6 Z06 rims so please keep that in consideration.

Always drilled and slotted rotors if you do hard driving. The heat will kill a rotor. The pads leave tooooooo much dust.

@Toys4Life runout man! When brakes get hot and youre running a little faster on the street that might should be. Those rotors come in handy but on a budget, check thickness, get them turned and call it a day

Quick question: I'll be buying a C5 (2001 or newer ideally) and am struggling between the decision of manual vs an automatic. I know I would love the feel of shifting gears and being dialed into the car, but they pain of driving manual could very easily get annoying after some time. Anyway, what are your thoughts on manual vs automatic C5s performance and experience wise? (I will be modding for more HP and potentially supercharging)

Generally speaking, if you are going to daily drive it in a ton of traffic 5 days a week, I certainly can understand an automatic. Otherwise in my opinion, the C5 is a sports car that really really shines with a manual. If you were going to do a ton of drag racing, I'd get an automatic but then again I would get a Camaro for something like that if that was my intended use. The internet crowd will all chant manual, but at the end of the day it's totally up to you and not them. Hope this helps.
