I own 2- C5 corvette convertibles brother. 2001 35K miles & 2002 60K miles. The C5 is highly under-rated best timeless body lines in the game.

Do it, i got one just over a year ago and it has scratched the cool car/fast-car itch like no other car previously has, and frankly im not sure any other car will be as satisfying to own in the future, relatively speaking.

Great video and observation of the c5. I like all vettes and currently own c4 zr1 & 92 coup, c5 99, used to own c5 Z06, c6 Z06 & c7 Z06. Each model had their own characteristic that love and respect. definitely in the market for a c3. Thanks for sharing, God Bless.

The C5 is a platform car. And on that platform you can build what you want out of it or keep it as stock as you want. 400+ HP is easily obtainable with a Z06 cam+ heads, headers and a tune 500 + HP is easily obtainable with supercharger kit All for less than 20K.

I agree with you if it doesn't have pop-up headlights I'm not interested a C8 Corvette is a fast car but how fast. Can you go on the highway without a blue and red vehicle chasing you on the highway

I've owned a '95 6spd, 2002 automatic with 'performance' 3.15 gears, and a 2003 6spd. Most important lesson learned- ALWAYS get a manual! I'm not positive that the C5 is my 'favorite' Corvette, but it certainly is the best bang for the buck, so I suppose that makes it my favorite. 🫠 Did you know the C5 base model has a higher top speed than the more powerful C5 Z06? Better aerodynamics- 174mph vs.168mph. I love the C5 Z06, but prefer the coupe due to being half the $$, more aerodynamic (I'm infatuated with squeezing every last drop of fuel into performance, or Smiles per gallon), more practical and better looking fastback body, more features (foglights, better insulation, etc), and did I mention PRICE!? Value is my top reason for C5, but 2nd reason is the era and technology/simplicity compared to other generations. It's modern without being an over-the-top impossible-to-work on/modify spaceship with all the government crap and reliability problems of new ones. It's far more advanced than the C4 and predecessors, but the technology actually makes the car better-not just for the sake of more tech! It rides like a Cadillac compared to the C4, while being a far better handler. (C4 did feel more like I was 'one with the machine') The C5 fuel mileage with the 6spd is phenomenal, the LS engine has unlimited performance potential while still being bulletproof, and rear transmission has many awesomenesses. I love all Vettes, but the C5 has a special place in my heart. Wish I didn't have to sell my last one (Had to pay cash for my beautiful property, 1st time owning a home!) It was a Millenium Yellow 2003 50th anniversary with desirable 6spd, fully-optioned Z51, glass roof. So dang rare with those options, and it was beautiful! What I would do to have that car back...

Great video. I've always loved Corvette's. Awesome looking cars. I've never driven one, never owned one, but I hope I can do something about that in the future. My son loves Corvette's as well. Anyway, great video. Bonus points for adding images of the YF-23. 😊

Someday I want an older/ reliable Corvette I can drive comfortably. Something I won’t have to worry about putting miles on while also not worrying so much about door dings and rock chips. It will most likely be a C5👍🏽
@WaybackRewind
@WaybackRewind 27 күн бұрын
Fun fact, Corvettes don't get door dings. The bodies are made of plastic and fiberglass, not metal.

I was fortunate to find a 2001 C5 convertible a couple weeks ago. Needed some work. I am a novice mechanic but I have a friend who is pretty much an expert so we are replacing all of the handling components, radiators, and next weekend installing a cam kit. I can hardly wait to hear the cam's idle and for the HP boost the cam will provide!

I like the C5. I had an 04 LeMans commemorative. Best thing you can do with a later model C5 is replace the front and rear sway bars with Z06 sways. This stops the wallowing in the turns, which the C5 does. That and reduces the understeer a little.

This is absolutely the worst review of a C-5 I've ever watched. If you really want to experience a C-5 test a manual. The C-5 still outperforms 90% of the cars on the road today. Yet the design is closing in on 30yrs old, been in production for 20+ years.

Personal experience with 2 C5s (same engine)- one slushbox with 'performance' gear ratio 🙄, and the other one was 6spd.... GET THE MANUAL! The automatic had more performance upgrades (likely 25+ hp), but the 6speed was alot quicker! Granny-driving in top gear netted an easy 40MPG/hwy for 6spd, 34 for slower automatic! 6spd was far more fun to drive, and simpler to maintain. Sad to see a bunch of old farts ruined the Corvette by not purchasing manuals while they had the chance. Supply and demand, behold C8s can only be bought with an unreliable VERY EXPENSIVE to replace automatic 😢.
