C6 Z06 OEM exhaust manifolds flow well, headers will net you a gain but not worth the 3k cost for an aftermarket headers/x pipe/ceramic coating price tag

Excellent video!! You've really explained very well why dyno numbers should be taken with a grain of salt and why it isn't wise to compare dyno numbers from earlier dyno sessions with current dyno sessions. I've been drag racing for around 30 years and was told early on in the hobby that "we don't race dyno's". The only time I've ever compared dyno numbers is on the day of the dyno test. First I'll get a baseline number and then make changes to the car and compare the before and after information. I'm also impressed with the shop for taking the time to compare the results of the different tire compounds (sticky track tires vs real DOT street tires). I've noticed that a lot of people these days don't seem to realize that a drag radial or other sticky track tire will actually lose power on a dyno as opposed to a real DOT street tire.

LOVE IT!!!! I'm with man, Dyno number doesn't matter especial for us "street drivers". It means nothing, as long as you car drives well this is what matters! I don't get why there is "thing" that we have among car people "My car made 600hp" says the owner super proud and only drives it at 40mph to go to a car show! lol lol! Great Content buddy!
@lag17912 жыл бұрын
You are 100% right on. Plus Mustang Dyno's are called heartbreaker dyno's for a reason. My 06 Z (H/E/C/I) made 544whp on a Mustang Dyno and it has a much more aggressive cam than your car. I meet other people with same mods making 600whp on dynojets. I just usually respond "wow what's your trap speed and 1/4 times? Mine is 133mph and best on street tires (R888R's) is 10.8sec"! That tells more than any other slip of paper. Anyway I bet you picked up 25-35hp on those headers and tune. Stock ones really are not that great. You still on stock clutch? If so I see that being your next mod. Last winter I installed (on jack stands) a Monster LT-S dual disc and I can't even tell you how much I love it. Anyway keep on rollin.

Thanks! I think people in general need to be honest about what dyno numbers are for and what they aren’t. People can throw all kinds of money into a car and have it make big dyno numbers, but hate to drive it because it isn’t enjoyable any longer. It happens. What’s the point in that?
@rusilver2 Жыл бұрын
@@InJasonsGarage a good practice would be for them to run a dyno, make whatever modifications, in your case, new exhaust, then dyno again. lots of places will do a before/after dyno

Had my c6 tuned there too! It made 520hp/480tq on 93 (a year ago) and 570hp/510tq on e85 just a few months ago. The tuner said on a dynojet at the other shop he tunes at (skye performance) it would’ve been around 630hp. Live just a few miles away from BA

Very possible that the old dyno numbers were inflated by the dyno being "out of tune" so if it was actually at 450hp at the wheels, it would all make sense

Yeah a dyno is a tune to tell how much gain you get from mods, it gives you a ballpark figure of what it should do across the board with dynos (as long as they're setup properly) that's why tuners always do a before and after dyno to establish base lines and then the gains from the mods, but at the end of the day a dyno is just a tool and if its not setup properly it won't read properly 🤷♂️

Take it to the drag-strip and post your trap speed. You’ll know for sure how much power it makes.

@@InJasonsGarage Any idea what the density altitude (DA) was at the time of dyno?

@@dpracing1 I just double checked the sheet and I don't see it listed. Educate us...if we knew the number, how would it be useful?

@@InJasonsGarage density altitude is the "altitude" the engine thinks it's actually at performance wise. As temperature goes up past an ISA temperature the air density decreases, therefor per unit of mass of air ingested into the engine there are less molecules of actual air being utilized in the combustion. So higher density altitude is an undesirable variable and lower density altitude is more desirable performance wise in general. So density altitude is pressure altitude corrected for temperature. There's more to it but this is a basic working input on how DA affects output.

Your intake manifold and throttle body need to be upgraded to take advantage of your setup… You have essentially made it way to efficient at releasing the air/pushing air out…. you are chocking it… your engine has a huge appetite for air now… & you are inadvertently starving it. I would bet a 40-50 hp gain from a MSD intake manifold and NW 103 throttle body… Btw: that shop should know that. I wish you the best with it… I could see the disappointment on your face during the interview
