Bought one pre pandemic for 33k big spec aswell, sold it for 43k last year and bought an f90 m5 and 12 months into the f90 it’s going back in for another 507. I’ve had an e92 m3 frozen edition, GTS Merc and this will be my 3rd 63 and 2nd 507. For me it’s my favourite car The m5 will kill it in a straight line and round corners, but the soul and absolute ludicrous handling is what makes the 63 that bit more. I have one with the P31 package (forged SLS internals etc.) pretty similar to this car. Although mine has a stock exhaust still (short exhaust note video on my channel). But I have a Stage 1 tune which means it probably has around 520 hp at the crank. It's an incredible machine. Absolutely intoxicating experience. To anyone considering buying one of these: If you can appreciate the sensations of a peak naturally aspirated engine and are not just looking to hunt numbers (it's still a fast car) you should just get one. It's such an emotional and extremely rewarding car. By the way, regarding the lazy gearshift: It you intend to shift it manually you HAVE to use the M mode. In all the other modes it really dislikes being "interrupted" by the driver and you should mostly let it shift by itself if you want to drive in C, S or S+. Awesome video!
@NotFilly4 ай бұрын
How do you know if you have the p31 or p30 package, i can only find c63 amgs that say theyre performance package or performance package plus
@sveeny4 ай бұрын
@@NotFilly The P30 and P31 naming is a bit confusing and much of it also depends on markets. On the pre-facelift there was a pack that contained the Limited Slip Diff but not the ECU tune but after a year or so they just came with the performance Pack and made the LSD a separate position. This is true for all facelift cars also. Performance Pack means it has the 480 hp ECU tune instead of 450hp (exact hp numbers vary slightly depending on market/units), some forged internals from the SLS, a carbon splitter wing, a dark grey instead of light grey intake manifold (compare engine pics), a part alcantara steering wheel and Performance Brake system with red calipers. In most cases/markets the Locking Diff is not included in this pack and you need to look for it separately. It's usually position P471 on the spec sheet. Arguably, the Diff is more important than the Performance Pack since a Stage 1 ECU tune will make pretty much all C63 variations end up with the same power which is about 510-520hp to the crank and maybe 550-560hp with long tube headers.

From Car and Driver’s test of the 507: “What the 507 option doesn’t do is make the C63 any quicker than the ’12 C63 coupe. Equipped with the discontinued $6050 AMG Development package, that 481-hp C63 was the quickest of any C63 we’ve encountered, hitting 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, quicker than what we saw in the 510-hp Black Series. This C63’s launch-control programming is entertaining, but we still managed to beat it by a few tenths by applying light brake torque to the engine. With that technique, 60 mph arrived in 3.9 seconds. We also tested a C63 507 sedan, which is lighter than the coupe by 45 pounds and managed a 3.8-second time. The take-away from all of this test talk: Every C63 we’ve ever run hit 60 mph in less than four seconds. They’re all quick, with or without the optional power.” In other words there’s no reason to spend extra on the P31 or 507. Just get the nicest one you can afford, and do the head bolts if it’s an early car.

Hello and thanks for doing the C63 review. I have a 2009 W204 C63 AMG with the P30 package. Stock hp was 451 at the crank. Around 2015 or so I contacted Eurocharged and inquired about the ECU tune. Supposedly the tune would add 100 hp at the crank. A dyno following resulted in 425.2 wheel hp and 370 max torque. Since then I had the head bolts done, and was told that I’d probably see a small gain in Hp and torque but haven’t had another dyno to verify. The car is as much fun to drive as the first time each time that I take it out. Cheers.

So the car in the vid has the correct brakes for a 507. 507 edition also got (different from stock): - Red dial inserts - Speed limiter raise to 174mph - Black daytime running light surrounds - Special gearshift knob with amg embossed logo - Special key with amg embossed logo - Alcantara steering wheel and shifter surround - Special graphics down the side (the first time these featured on a merc production car i think?) I got an early W204 (2008) C63 AMG Sedan and enjoyed it for its nimble drive amid its amazing power delivery. The an opportunity came round and I was able to get a 507 figuring it would be just as nimble with even more power. Nope. In the interim time from the early 2008-2009 W204 C63s to the latter facelifted 2010 and beyond they "refined" the cars but in so doing everything had been dulled. Not as responsive to drive dynamically and the promise of power did not materialize. So, off the 507 went. I did try a 2010 C63 Coupe with the power pack for a while, but it never really replicated just how much fun the earlier cars were to drive. Moral of the story: take it from someone who owned all three, for me, the most fun car to drive was the early 2008/2009 C63. Don't waste your time or money on the others. Of course, the C63 Black Series is the daddy, but if you don't have the cash, just get the early one. I promise you won't be disappointed.

In all but the S55, they rated it at 469hp. But in the S55 it was rated at 510hp. Many people have tested them, and they all put out the same power numbers. AMG Meister confirmed it.

Just think how the new C63 is a 2.0T 4-cylinder hybrid that weighs nearly 5,000 lbs, is filled with screens that will be obsolete in 10 years and impossible to fix without going into bankruptcy after the warranty is out.

Loved the video. Kind of disappointed in what vehicles you compared it to. The ISF, E92 M3 and RS4 were the direct competitors for the c63 during their production runs. The RCF and F80 were next gen cars. I cross shopped the C63 and ISF really hard and ended up choosing the ISF. Lighter, Better handling, better longevity and a far better trans lol. Although the C63 has hands down the best exhaust note stock for stock, with equal length headers the Yamaha tuned 2UR comes alive in a much more exotic way.

The Lexus 5.0 almost sounds musical thru the midrange whereas the C63 is just pure violence

@@tmb993 it feels very racey with peak torque up at like 5000. You just know some Lexus engineer out there has one of these spinning all the way to 8k+ being a menace on the streets

Hey revisiting this video. Does anyone know what's a fair price on a high mileage 80k+ 2015 507 model?

180k on my 2011 C63. Basic upkeep is required. The oil changes imo are the most important thing to keep up with due to the type of valvetrain the M156 has.

i have a cl63 amg that im trying to decide if i want to sell or keep till i can afford one of the newer facelift c63s coupes. love the engine, just hate the s65 like maintenance nightmare narrative.

beautiful review Zachary. i felt like i was really taking the ride with u and shooting the shit. the reviews of slightly older models have this nostalgia to them because we clearly remember the time.. it wasn’t long ago… but so much has changed since then

I think this might be the greatest sounding cross-plane v8 ever, besides perhaps some big block or cammed LS.

I bought S204 C63 Estate last year with fairly low mileage. I've covered 8000miles in it over a year and fitted a Wavetrac LSD and it makes me smile every time I drive it. The kids also love the sound of it as much as I do.
