I'm so happy to be able to announce that the Outrun Europe level tunes are made up using only 2 channels of the Commodore 64 SID chip... I left the 3rd channel out for sound effects.

I really miss those times. Playing Commodore 64 (and later Amiga 500) after school day or before school in the morning late 80s/early 90s. Then come mid 90s with modern techonology and everything was over (at least for me). So great computer music!
@zippydebrain Жыл бұрын
What the Amiga did with the technology of the day especially considering what everyone else was doing at the time was insane. The Commodore 64 was more fascinating in that with essentially zero change in the hardware during the 10 years it was viable the difference in quality of the games, graphics, and music as people learned how to make use of the hardware properly was astounding. For me Commando kind of maxed out what the machine could do both in terms of graphics and music. Using the raster interupt to move the sprites so they could have more than the usual 8 was brilliant.

In addition to the tunes, I like that there are pictures of their authors behind each track. Super cool to see the artists too!

Thanks. GoatTracker is probably the easiest way to get started, because it can run on PC with SID emulation. You can export your tracks to SID and transfer to c64 given correct tools. But even GT requires dedication to learn, especially if you have no previous experience with trackers.

I learned something cool, thanks! :) Even though I now know a little more about the computer, the programming of music and demo's is still like magic to me. Like Lionel said, with so few options, such a lively expression. I think it's awesome.

Why are we all still so captivated by C64 Music?
@eclipse29663 жыл бұрын
Mostly because it's a highly unique sound, and the limitations of the chip forced composers to be extremely clever and creative, which further makes the music extremely unique. When you remix the tunes into modern instruments they just sound boring because all of that uniqueness is lost.

You should see this www.dailyrindblog.com/youtube-copyright-claims/ in relation to the copyright claim by Orchard. Or just Google youtube orchard copyright and do a bit of reading. From Wikipedia "KZbin users have expressed concerns about The Orchard claiming copyright ownership of music used in user-generated content that may or may not belong to them. According to an article posted on The Daily Rind, if audio is matched to a particular copyright owner via KZbin's content identification system, then one or more links will be placed under the video in order to help promote the copyright owner's music, with the video remaining available. If the claim has been made in error, The Orchard's UGC team will remove it after review. In this context, The Orchard has been criticised by KZbin users for accusing them without justification. In many cases, The Orchard did not own any copyrights at all. In some cases, The Orchard tried to claim copyrights on songs that appeared in no form in video." Bring back International Karate it's already elsewhere on KZbin e.g. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKvPfJKAg9qCfac
@einokeino3039 жыл бұрын
I have tried to dispute and appeal to them several times. It's no use, they just reinstate their copyright claims even if they don't have rights to the original music. I removed the IK theme to prevent them from generating revenue from a compilation video made by me. You should see this kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2ixcneAepiYbs0

If some aliens come to earth and want to destroy it this music would be the ultimate weapon against them because alien spaceships are a metamorphosis of computer and biological life and the spaceship wants to have sex with the aliens inside because this sound breaks the limits of bits and bytes to artificial intelligence.
