Have to say there a few folks out there that do cab rides on various lines and countries and they are all mostly quite entertaining. But yours are the best of the best. Highest quality video, lots of fun extra information, seeing the route on the map. All very cool. Well done. Still wonder why these videos are so mesmerizing, it is just a stupid train ride. But I love them!

Absolutely beautiful country there! What really shocks me is the amount of passenger trains there. Over here people drive cars instead of riding the rails. Thank you so much for sharing your videos!!!

Thanks, you're very welcome. The next one will be a 3 hour video crossing the alps. Yes, apparently Switzerland has the densest rail network and highest percentage of public transport riders in the world. Most connections are every half hour, with 15 minute frequencies in planning.

Great video, thank you. One small point, at 34:24, at Neuhausen, the line from Winterthur joins from the right not the left, having just come out of a tunnel after going over the Rheinfall bridge. The line to the left is in to the SIG factory, where they used to build railway carriages.My Opa was working on the railway the day it got bombed in WW2. When the sirens went off he had to choose where to take shelter, he chose the Bahnhof rather than the goods yard. Lucky choice as it was the goods yard that got destroyed. My mum stood at her kitchen window watching it all! I am told that after this incident, a huge Swiss cross was built on the Hohberg at Herblingen, just north of Schaffhausen, in an attempt to stop it happening again.

Chris Moseley That was very interesting, thanks for sharing that. Thank God your Opa stayed safe. I can't imagine how that must've been for the people. Is it unclear that the text indicates that the line from Winterthur comes from the right? I put the arrows on the right, pointing left to indicate that the track comes from the right hand side and merges left.

@lorirocks777

one cant help comparing. If you go to any medium sized station in UK your see train spotters. In Swiss i see none. I am always looking out for them. My drivers question today is i watch all these videos on speed 2. When speeded up ones notices the acceleration and deceleration more noticeable. Please tell us why when you come to a clear road of Green signals giving you the right of way, why dose the train noticeably slow down?

Awesome vid! Was really interesting to see the transitions from Swiss/German infrastructure. Having to know the signalling system of 2 countries must be quite a challenge... I was actually surprised at 55:25 when you passed a german signal in german territory, yet still had the swiss warning sound (ZUB?) and not PZB?
@lorirocks777
@lorirocks777 5 жыл бұрын
LB767 Yes, the line to Singen is equipped with both systems. Also the catenary wires are designed to allow locomotives with the narrower Swiss pantograph to pass. This is also the case for some tracks of Basel Bad.

Beautiful railway infrastructures, as one would expect from the SBB and DB Railway systems. However, one cannot help but notice the numerous instances of graffiti on fixed equipment and rolling stock. Clearly, this form of vandalism indicates that there are lots of mentally sick peoples in what would otherwise appear as a very idyllic Society. Ontario, Canada. 2019/12/15.
