In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view on The Bamberg-Hof railway, The Weiden-Oberkotzau and the Regensburg-Weiden railway from Hof Hbf to Regensburg Hbf in 4K/60 frames per second.
Our journey starts on the Bamberg-Hof railway, which is a 127 kilometre-long main line that runs through Bavaria in southern Germany. After Oberkotzau continues on the Weiden-Oberkotzau railway, which is a two-track main line railway in Bavaria, Germany. It connects with the Regensburg-Weiden railway in Weiden in der Oberpfalz and runs via Marktredwitz to Oberkotzau, where it joins the Bamberg-Hof railway. The line forms part of a long-distance route from Munich to Hof, continuing to Leipzig and Dresden. After Weiden our journey joins the Regensburg-Weiden railway, which is is a two-track main line railway in Bavaria, Germany. It connects the Upper Palatinate district capital of Regensburg via Schwandorf with Weiden in der Oberpfalz.
The line begins at Regensburg Hauptbahnhof and from there runs to the east parallel to the line to Passau. The lines separate at the Safferling footbridge. The line to Passau turns south, while the line to Weiden heads north through the Regensburg port area and crosses bridges over the Westhafen and the Danube. The line runs east of the Regensburg districts of Konradsiedlung, Wutzlhofen and Haslbach, swings to the northwest and follows the Regen to Regenstauf. After Regenstauf the line crosses the Regen, continues to the northwest, crosses the A 93 and loops through the Ponholz forest. After Ponholz, the line continues north to Maxhütte-Haidhof, where the line to Burglengenfeld branches off, and continues between the Naab and the A 93 to Schwandorf.
Schwandorf station is an important railway junction in the Upper Palatinate. There the north-south connection from Dresden via Hof to Regensburg and Munich meets the east-west connection from Frankfurt via Nuremberg to Furth im Wald and Prague.

This train must have been so overcrowded that nobody could have had 'Ein Angenehme Reise'. The 49-Euro-a-month Deutschland ticket is ridiculously cheap compared to the fares we pay in Britain, but it does create problems.

@@Fan652w It is not the ticket, it is the terrible performance of the German Railway since December 2023. Usually on this line are five double decker coaches. On this weekend, all diesel engines weren't operable. So all the people were compressed in one single 612 DMU, which only has two single deck coaches.

In their response to one of my comments regarding the obvious overcrowding of the train we were riding on, VT 612 said 'It is not the [Deutschland] ticket, it is the terrible performance of the German Railway since December 2023. Usually on this line are five double decker coaches. On this weekend, all diesel engines weren't operable. So all the people were compressed in one single 612 DMU, which only has two single deck coaches. THIS POINT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE IN YOUR INTRODUCTORY MATERIAL.

An interesting and varied journey in not so nice weather - but that was exactly what made it so special with the wonderful cloud formations 😊 The VT 612 train has a tilting system built in which allows a higher curve speed on routes prepared for it: a maximum of 160 km/h! Unfortunately, there are always disruptions with this, as can be seen on the KZbin channel of @regiotf206, who is himself a train driver and shows the background to his job. The old saying: "If someone goes on a trip, he can experience something" was completely true here: most viewers will not have understood the German announcements on the platforms, but it meant an unexpected delay for the many people waiting. Because the train only has two parts, it was full from the start and the platform announcements recommended taking the next train at every stop! 🫤🙈 Overall, it was a great trip for the video viewers, partly along the river and some small lakes, the route peppered with a potpourri of different signaling technology - I liked it 🤗

It is actually amazing how little railway electrification there is in Germany, once You move away from mainlines. There have been plans and targets to improve electrification, but the progress is very slow.

Was vielleicht auch mal ganz gut wäre ist eine Hin u Rückfahrt. Z.b. Hinfahrt am Tag Rückfahrt Abenddämmerung. Damit man auch n guten Vergleich hat. Übrigens ist es eine schöne Streckenwahl

Hi and thank you for the interesting 612 replacement trip. 👍🏻😊 This time without tilting technology. The train was overcrowded and probably only a railcar. Not good at all for the railway customers. The sound was so resounding this time. How did that come about? Many greetings to Slovenia 🙋🏼‍♂️

This is first video that has been recorded FROM the cab, due to rain. In all other videos up till now, camera was mounted outside for better quality. Unfortunately, cameras can not record on the outside with this much rain.

A pesar de la gran calidad de sus vídeos, a veces el ambiente lo malogra. Mal día para viajar, con lluvia, a contraluz y parabrisas sucio. Fílmelo de nuevo en recorrido inverso.

wahrscheinlich Fahrzeugausfall der DB. Da wurden ja erst vor einiger Zeit einige 612er nach Hof von München aus Überführt. Vielleicht sind es ja jetzt die hier
