Very nice cabride! Drove to Kocevje 2 years ago, on the way to Croatia, enjoyed a lot the scenery on the way. There are some hills on this route, making it very interesting. Thanks for the video, greetings from a traveller and creator from Germany!

Great. So you know the region. Yes, the road to Kočevje is interesting. Actually, for almost 50 years there was just a road, no railway line from Ljubljana to Kočevje. Passenger rail service just restarted last year after the Railway Company renewed the railway tracks. Greetings from Ljubljana.

VERY impressive video. Knowing nothing about Slovenia or its railways every minute of this vide was a revelation. I am astounded by how modern and extremely well-tended every structure is. Houses, industries, roads, railway, communications towers--all seem modern and extremely well tended. Even, or should I say especially neat and orderly were the farms. Obviously, this rail line is not intended for so-called heavy haul freight trains. The rail seems light by comparison to heavy-duty freight railways here in the USA. That said the rail, ballast, overpasses, underpasses etc. all seem new or are incredibly well maintained. Again, all this was a revelation. Thank you for a great video. I will be sure to watch all your videos of Slovenia. I am sure they will all be as fascinating as this one.

@ErictheFenderFanThank you very much. The railway infrastructure was renewed recently when this line was reopened after many years. And, for the last few years and still ongoing, there are many works done on other lines in Slovenia as well. Houses and villages normally are very organised and people love to grow flowers and have gardens here. I think you will like the other videos from Slovenia. I don't know much about USA lines, I want to go there once. Do you have any suggestion which line would be good for me to record?

Railroads in the United States, with the exception of the densely populated so-called Northeast Corridor that runs from Boston thru New York to Washington, are exclusively dedicated to freight railroading. Around such cities as New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago, and Los Angeles you will find lots of commuter railroading, but aside from that itt is all freight railroading with the exception of a daily passenger train here and there. By far the most heavily trafficked lines are as follows: The so-called Transcon belonging to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) that runs from Chicago to Los Angeles The so-called Sunset Route from Los Angeles to New Orleans that belongs to the Union Pacific Railroad Both the CSX and Norfolk Southern (NS) have very busy routes from the New Jersey/New York port area to Chicago and from the New York City/New Jersey area to Atlanta and Jacksonville. KZbin is full of videos of these lines and the dense traffic on them. As a European you will be astounded at the length and frequency of American freight railroading. A train of 100 cars is considered a medium length train. Years ago (and you can find videos of it on KZbin) the Union Pacific Railroad operated a train on 350 cars quite successfully. It was only a trial run to see if it could be done (it could) but it wasn't repeated. I would encourage you to check videos of American railroads on KZbin. I think you will see an entirely different railroading experience. Please keep putting up the videos like the ones you have done. I thoroughly enjoyed the ones i have seen and I will be sure to watch as many of your videos as time permits. You are doing a wonderful job. Keep at it. And thank you again for showing them to us.

@@RailRelaxation Just to give you a feel for American heavy haul railroading here is a video that was recorded very recently along the Union Pacific Railroad's Sunset Route in the desert east of Los Angeles. The narrator goes into some detail about locomotives and such which may not mean very much to you, but it will just give you an idea of what U.S. freight traIns look like and sound like. A bit of explanation about all that horn blowing you hear. Since freight railroads are private companies you cannot just walk onto their property and start to take videos. For that you need written permission and must be escorted by a railroad area official. This is all in the interest of safety. You can however video the railroads from road crossings which are of course open to the public.. In the United States whenever a train approaches a road crossing the train must blow two long blasts of the horn followed by one short blast, and then another long blast on the horn until the locomotive has crossed the entire road crossing. In a built up area that is not grade-separated from the railroad it can be noisy at times. But it does save lives. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I am a commuter railroad employee now in my 56th year working in the railroad industry. I have worked in the past for freight railroads so i am conversant with their history and a lot of their operations.

Ravno danes sem potoval iz Kočevja do Šmarje sapa. V Grosuplju še ne dela dvigalo za kolesa, tako da izstop za kolesarje tam ni mogoč. Tanovi vlak je prava bomba. Čisti užitek potovanja z vlakom. Še!

Posnetek je čudovit. Hvala zanj. Kot prebivalec Slovenije pa sem popolnoma razočaran nad tem, kako je proga ''posodobljena'' iz stanja ruševine. Lahko bi zgradili sodobno, hitro in varno progo z vso infrastrukturo, ki jo sodobno življenje narekuje. A trasa je popolnoma enaka kot pred 150 leti in že takrat je bila preenetljivo ovinkasta - tudi ko to nebi bilo potrebno. Ob ''posodabljanju proge'' niso ''poravnali'' niti enega samega ovinka. Kljub temu, da bi jih večino lahko poravnali brez težav in izgradnje dodatnih objektov. Ponekod ponekod so dovoljene hitrosti celo ''neverjetnih'' 80 km/h a na moje presenečenje so hitrosti večinoma zgolj 60 km/h - kar je šokantno glede na to, da je bila proga posodobljena iz stanja ruševine pred nekaj leti. Proga je posodobljena a v celoti zastarela, funkcionalnost pa je okrnjena in času nezadostna. Ker imajo ljudje zgolj izbiro med dvema slabima možnostima (cesta/železnica) jo bodo sicer uporabljali. A nikoli v obsegu, kot bi jo v primeru pametnejšega in času primernejšega pristopa k izgradnji proge lahko in nemara celo želeli. Žal je to izgubljena priložnost zgraditi nekaj, kar bo trajalo in kar bodo ljudje z veseljem uporabljali. Kot tako je seveda vprašanje upravičenosti porabe denarja glede na to, kar je iz tega nastalo in na uporabno vrednost tega. Verjetno bo način ''posodabljanja'' oz ponovne izgradnje proge postal vzorčni in šolski primer kako se v teh časih ne ''posodablja'' oz gradi železniških prog. Povdarjam - proga je bila v času ''posodabljanja'' v ruševniah in ni bila v uporabi. Kar pomeni, da bi jo brez težav lahko posodabljali in posodobili drugače.
