Chris you really really want to have the sidewalk concrete up against the rock wall, do not leave a gap between the concrete and the rock wall. I'll bet your concrete finisher will probably tell you the same thing. Without the concrete against it the rain water will undermine your wall over time, also weeds and tree trash will gather in there and its an ankle breaker in the dark. The concrete will lock the bottom row of rocks of the wall in place and resist the water's influence. It's also a lot cleaner looking, safer, and no "weedeater-ing" needed. Your channel is a lot of fun! Demolition, logging, landscaping, ponds, driveways, and construction... is there anything you can't do man? Thanks for taking us on your ride!

Small bushes with annual flowers planted in a nice pattern then mulch. I say annuals so u can plant tougher plants for the fall. For the bushes you could some type of miniature evergreen or mini boxwood I have these red bushes that have small spikes on them and they are all deer resistant.

I say the bushes because I don’t know your climate zone. I’m in upstate NY so even the roughest op flower will not last much past Halloween. Most die in early September. So when leaf watchers come out the mums which are the hardy ones will still look nice for them.

Even though you have not "disturbed" the roots. The natural forest floor mulch has been removed and stone and driveway compaction has probably been pretty detrimental. . I would outline a good area for the tree, add some landscaping timbers around it and add a good 6" layer of aged compost as well as a soaker hose for awhile. Trees depend on the mycelium and rich biological activity in the soil, they aren't happy with dry compacted soil getting their toes run over.

Cabin is looking absolutely amazing Chris. I'd suggest grass where you put the top soil. Mulch will float and spread in the direction of water flow then require to be racked or shoveled back in place. Plus grass doesn't derade over time and have to be replaced. An rechargeable mini mower would be all you'd need to mow that small an area.

I vote mulch! As usual the dirt work is top notch. Such a beautiful setting to spend some time resetting your internal clock. Thank you Chris. Love the hum of the mini. Good video. If you do any stained concrete outside and want it to look natural try a light dusting of rock salt while it is curing. Makes a beautiful somewhat natural stone look then stain in a color that compliments your soil. Trust the process 19 years and holding. Thanks for the rain. Nice peaceful rain since 4am and most of the day. Another round starting later tonight. Texas needs every drop.

Chris, I continue to be amazed at how you manage to put every grain of dirt exactly where you want it. About the patch in front of the deck; how about some stepping stones or pavers with some small ground covering plants. The kind that doesn't need trimming but spreads out nicely around the stepping stones?

Get you a airblow80 sump pump for the pond. put it under the porch up off the ground a few feet. Aeration plus prevent inversion in the winter. Stock the pond with fish
