Great information. Thanks for sharing. We built our home on an old rice field that we had filled in with river gravel. We mixed our cement with a shovel but the overall concept I'd the same. We even used wooden trowels, believe it. One man can make 150 to 200 blocks a day, depending on the weather, the availability of the materials and stacking blocks made in the past for seasoning. Our hand made blocks were stronger than blocks we purchased, mainly because we did not stretch the cement so thin as do the manufacturer of the ready made blocks. They use 50 blocks to a bag of cement, and we used (or made) 35 blocks to a bag of cement. Our blocks were a different size. Danny and Wanda, your work is very clean, you are both to be commended for such clean work. God bless both of you. America needs more couples like you. God bless America, America us really coming back!

This might sound funny, but a big ol rubber spatula would scrape all the concrete out that bucket, lol. Wonderful to watch the progress Danny and Wanda, thanks for taking us along on the cabin building.

Love to watch things being done the right way! Time ... in my 60's I started a building project that I figured would take less than a week. It took over a month! I forgot to allow for coffee breaks. ;-)

Love your videos watched about all of them. Starting build a cabin on our farm for my family to enjoy. My only issue is the best place to build is on a hill with about a 7’ drop from corner to corner how tall would I safely be able to use the concrete blocks for my corners?

Check out Wanda troweling that concrete like a pro! She even got the " flick it in the bucket" technique going on. I love it!

Danny, I was wondering why you didn't put foundation pillars down the middle of the layout? I can remember when my parents bought a house, my father had to get under the house and Jack up the floor joists and add supports because the floors had started sagging.

I would have wet the block before setting, Danny is that ok in dryer time
@DeepSouthHomestead7 жыл бұрын
James Tubb The only time i wet a block is when its extremely hot. Then the block will pull the moisture out off the mortar to fast and make a weak joint. Really the mortar serves no purpose in piers if you are filling them with concrete you could just stack the blocks and then fill them as long as you have rebar in them. Thanks

Danny why didn’t u put blocks in the middle of foundation for shake
@DeepSouthHomestead7 жыл бұрын
Tommy Barley We are using 2x10s for floor joist they can span that distance on 16 inch centers. We will double them under the walls for the needed strength.Thanks

I SAW you brushing dust from the cinder blocks. What is the purpose of that step?
@saddleridge43647 жыл бұрын
he wants the concrete to stick fast to the block, dust , not good.

This is what you do after you rake the joints to clean any mortar thats left on the blocks off. This way they look clean and nice. Thanks

@DeepSouthHomestead7 жыл бұрын
Robert Moore Not sure exactly sure what your asking but after 26 years of being a contractor and building to code during that time this is the way we build here in our area on piers. Thanks
