Traditionally cast albums are studio recorded and this one is no exception. On rare occasions there will be live cast albums but they usually say. They bring the whole cast and band into a studio that specializes in Broadway cast recording (and I know they brought in some more rap/ R&B producers as well to work on this album) and record everything including on stage sound effects that the musical director and producer think are important to the sound scape

There are all sorts of reaction videos. You can't show the video, just your reactions. When I've watched those, I've played it myself at home on the TV. When you stop to comment on something, before you start back up just say "I'm starting at 1 hr 12 min 5 second mark" so people can be aligned with what you're watching. These are a LOT of fun. Metalhead watches Hamilton is one of those videos. You can check it out and see how he did it to get ideas.

As others said this is studio recorded and was specifically made to be more like a music album so the audio isn’t identical to the stage. Also the “audience” reactions you keep talking about are the amazing ensemble cast.

another youtuber did a livestream on twitch and posted the full reaction here, but without the video, only the audio and he'd say the time stamp so people could sync up. it worked pretty well. it's an idea :) love your reactions! btw, you said it sounds like a studio recorded album, it's becausa it actually is lol. the original broadway cast album was recorded in a studio. the show that's on disney+ is the live version.

I saw that live stream too, it was fun and I was entertained. The movie version you can tell the actors gave there all even more so because they knew it was being filmed. Also, the studio recorded album is amazing and so glad it won a Grammy, so deserving!! You can hear the slight differences between the album and the movie.

It's...a *bit* different in the case of the Reign of Terror after the French Revolution. Then, there may have been some (like Jefferson) who argued about what to call what they were doing in France at the time, but honestly... they were rioting. There's a bit of a difference between throwing water bottles and breaking windows, and mobbing nobles, dragging them to the guillotine and cutting their heads off. And then, when they were done doing that, they started cutting the heads off of anyone who questioned what was going on. In fact, it was worse than rioting, the people who took control of the government after the French Revolution became a dictatorship where anything said against them would cost you your life.

Yep, exactly. A lot of the Stamp Act resistance in the American colonies were definitely riots in the sense that they involved pretty serious destruction of other people's property (such as burning down the stable house of a public official) and were sometimes difficult for the Sons of Liberty to keep under control, but the French Revolution was a whole other beast altogether. Nothing in America's resistance to colonial British rule came anywhere close to the violent and bloody mess that was the September Massacres, for example.

Suggestion: before you watch the full show, play these songs again with genius.com up. It shows TONS of detail about all the references, whether they be historical, music references (like the Biggie one you caught) and Broadway shouts. Many annotations from LMM himself. It's INSANE the levels of stuff packed into this show that the average listener would never catch. As Lin said, he's "playing chess, not checkers".

I think you are listening to the cast studio album. There are certain nuances in the way the characters say the phrases that people (like me) who have watched the movie version countless times can tell are different from what we hear on your videos.

If you want to explore the relevancy of these topics you should pay attention to and analyze the lyrics of "The Room Where it Happens", the cut version of "Schuyler Defeated" and the cut song "No John Trumbull". It's also an interesting debate about the creation and roles of the party system which is a recurring motif and social progression taking place within the political environment the play covers (see the beginning of the song and the interaction with Madison during "What'd I Miss", the Burr/Hamilton dialog in "Schuyler Defeated", "Washington on Your Side", and Washington's lines in "One Last Time").

There is emotion and energy in the Disney version (from the band AND the singers) that is sometimes missing in the cast recording so its DEFINITELY worth watching and recording your reaction and playing the audio of the music while you're doing it... especially the cabinet battles, Room where it happens and Say no to this etc... you'll notice it. The band live is absolutely killer though and the choreography just elevates the songs 1000%. Hope to be able to see on KZbin... there are people that 100% just had their reaction + audio... some people cut it down and were able to show whole songs with short 2-3sec samples of the video so you could see where they were in the play... I'd rather hear the whole thing and see your reaction 🍿
