Pro tip on the cheap chrome attachments where the connection point swivels around the bar: put a couple of drops of Barbell Rescue oil or 3-in-1 oil to one side of the swivel point. Then tune the bar vertically and spin the swivel to work the oil all the way around. Wipe off any excess and it will make them way smoother, prevent rust, and get rid of the squeak. Still not as nice as a premium, but it’s a cheap way to get more value from the bar.

Great suggestion. Thank You.

Regarding your comment on the squeaking of the metal straight bar. I found that spraying white lithium grease in there does wonders. It makes it smoother, and no squeaks. It's hard to get it in there, but if you do it little by little every day, it'll get in there. Nice little hack. I did it with the single chrome handles too.

The rotating hammer attachment from Porter - one of those in the mail for me, but he actually cut it to customer length for my hand size so you'll have more leverage on it. Open Trab Bar - the BOS open industrial trap bar is fantastic, although discontinued. BOS new stuff - the 3x3 all in one and cable tower are looking really good, hope to put hands on those at HGC Favorite cable attachments - I find myself going for those that have bushings and spin smoothly and quietly. More expensive, but more enjoyable user experience.

Giant open trap bar is great bar especially for a small gym. Those shorter sleeves(optional)and the knurled handles are great.
@GarageGymRadioАй бұрын
I forgot about the smaller sleeve option
@jasonmckinney3876Ай бұрын
Agreed. The smaller sleeves are fantastic for a small gym. If a person buys the Weight It Out plates then they will easily be able to achieve max loads.
@jasonmckinney3876Ай бұрын
@ you could always attach them to a wooden post and use it for weight storage lol

BoS is saying in the yt comments of their launch video that their smith machine attachment can go on a rack as short as 74''. Not sure if there are any compromises you have to make to install on shorter racks.

I sold my knock off mag handles and am thinking about buying a set of kensui paddle handles. I can use them with my lat pull down bar and as stand alone

Mayhem has a pretty good easy bar cable attachment. Although, believe it or not the knurling may be too aggressive.

My guess is the Gungnir trap bar will be discounted 20% during next year‘s black Friday sale. The Rep open trap bar is still number one along with the Eleiko. Kabuki after those 2.

Guys love your content and seeing new products. I'm thinking of getting one or TWO MAG grips and want to get best ones which 2 do you recommend?
@GarageGymRadioАй бұрын
My favorites are the medium grip Supinate and Wide grip, but partly because that is what compliments other options I already have. That said, I think those are two good ones to start with and build around if you decide to keep going.

bos smith looks good but i wish they had optional rods/upright to run it on a 90" rack (tuck it up without having to remove like vts) and i almost wish it mounted out further from the upright by a bit more to leave room on the upright. vts is a no for me because i don't care for the starting weight and issues i've read when one side goes uneven. Are Smiths becoming the new lever arms?
@GarageGymRadioАй бұрын
Sounds like you've done some research. Appreciate the feedback! I think smith machines will be used more often, because they are simpler to set up.
@SaltivasaltivaАй бұрын
agreed that it should be used more but i wonder if some are buying into the hype and won't use it. i like smiths and i like the thought of using them as a leg press (never have). i'm still leaning towards stand alone smith to keep my rack open but i love the ingenuity

The REP curl bar cable attachment is super high quality for the price. Doesn’t have the same ‘cheap’ chrome feel. As to the MAGs I didn’t like the knock offs until I found the BLUSLM, their angles match very closely to the real deal. Had the MAGs at a local gym so I was used to them and that’s why I hated the other knockoffs…angles were too neutral grip on the Everyday Essentials/Marsafit/etc. BLUSLM are great for the $, but def wouldn’t buy the rest.

@GarageGymRadio great podcast, I have the knock off Mag grips, now I want to try the real ones.
@jasonmckinney3876Ай бұрын
The knurling on the bar is almost nonexistent. Be prepared to use a lot of chalk because it sucks. Great idea but poor execution. I have not purchased another Bells Of Steel product since I bought that bar, but I might go for the seven ring power bar at some point in the near future.
