There's a funny story about the naming of Camp Toccoa. Originally, it was named Camp Toombs, after the Confederate General Robert Toombs. But Colonel Robert Sink, the commander of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (Easy Company's parent unit), disliked the name, due to the fact that it might foster superstition among the young recruits, since they were traveling on Georgia Route 13, one of the place the recruits passed on the way to the camp was the Toccoa Casket Company. The colonel was able to persuade the Department of the Army to ditch the Camp Toombs name in favor of Camp Toccoa.

Osha would've had a field day with that one. No rope to guide it. only 2 straps and 4 clevises. no hard hat while something was up in the air above them. improper hand communication between the operator and ground man. But on the bright side it wasn't a skid steer that they had to beat the forks with.

Thank you for the comment about how you would not do it. As an ex mechanical contractor I have rigged a lot of loads and watching them rig was scary. I watched an electrician rig a bigger generator like that and smacked it into the parking lot when th heavy end slipped

There was nothing I liked on what and how they did that lift. No very professional what so ever. Many times lives were at risk if something went wrong. I am surprised they actually took time to extend the outriggers. So many places are like that. Ya did a first class job in backing that in off the road in one swing. Maybe you edited out the other 19 attempts but thinks not. Love the camera angles. Love how your viewers get to see every aspect of what it takes to run a successful trucking business. I think it’s time to break out the Polka music. Anywho FSC another great video. Have yourself a great and a safe day. Happy trails and happy motoring.

I ran overhead crane, 140ton and under. Most flat bed loads were 40,000 pounds and under. I always liked to get the load just above the trailer height, but not over it, but to the side of the trailer. Then, move over to set it on the trailer. The reverse for unloading, pick it up to clear the trailer, and move away. Loaded some 100ton plus super loads as well.

I can’t believe how that poor genset got pick off of your truck…the weather cover is thin tin just to support the sound proofing…should of had a spreader bar to protect environment cover…..by the bounce of the crane it really wasn’t big enough for load or operator was not very skilled and if he keeps shock loading that boom like that it will be laid out across the ground shortly.

Those crane people are dangerous. Once that generator left your trailer they were asking for trouble. Free hanging without at least one tagline to stabilize it. Then again once it was off the deck it was no longer your responsibility. Plus the fact you recorded it helped. It made the guy with the skid steer seem like a pro. Stay safe and see you at MATS..

I have a wheeled Case SV300 skid steer, biggest you can get. Would have handled those generators just fine. Depending on how you drive them, they actually drive really smooth even when turning. The forks i have, have multiple points i can hook to when moving something i feel needs tied/secured. Those generators for example.

I was amazed how strong the top of the generator is. If I rigged like that I would have been bending sheet metal. I cannot believe how high they lifted it. I do rigging as part of some of my deliveries and we never lift any higher than we have to. In the other video it was safer unloading with the skidsteer. But this should have been a rough terrain forklift job. Or have an operator that uses more caution when unloading.

Now PA State Route 654 is micropaved, meaning it’s been paved with tar and stones (oil and chips). Micro paving uses tar and stone to pave roads so cars and other road sharing vehicles can use the road quicker than they can with an asphalt road.
