This is awesome, thanks for all the annotations, really helpful. I want to know how do you know all those values? (distance, elevation, velocity).
@hikinghighandlow5661Ай бұрын
Thank you very much for the feedback. It is very much appreciated. 😊 Well, it was quite a lot of work, but a nice activity to do on dark winter evenings. Distance (km) and allowed speed (vmax) are marked with signs along the entire line. The yellow triangle signs that you can see are speed signs. In addition, there are signs with distance marks every 500 meters. Since this is a relatively old recording, they are not always easy to see, but if you look closely you can see them. I have marked for every kilometer in the video. Maybe they are easier to see in the spring version kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZPEfWCjhd1lptU I have used maps to find the MSL altitude. Thanks for watching. Hope this line will soon be filmed in 4k.

Almost ten hours of a perfect cabride by a beautiful scenery - i enjoyed without intermission. Only one thing could be better : The same line -southbound...

I totally agree. Hope someone makes a southbound video in 4K resolution soon.

The original NRK continuous shot is excellent and the process you put it through makes it even better. Great work.

What are the 'traffic lights' by the track, facing to the side? They are in many places, such as Dunderland, on the left at 7:32:10 and 7:33:17. Great video.
@hikinghighandlow56612 жыл бұрын
It's a long story. All of these signal lights are, as you have probably observed, marked with an X. This means that they are not in use. These were installed more than 10 years ago as part of the remote control system that was to be implemented on the Nordlandsbanen line. However, the system (named Merkur) was never approved by the Norwegian Railway Authority and it was decided to scrap it. Instead, they chose to focus on the pan-European system ERTMS (European Railway Traffic Management System). With ERTMS, all physical light signals will be superfluous because all necessary information will be displayed on the locomotive's instrument panel. Implementation of ERTMS will be completed on the Nordlandsbanen line in the autumn of 2022 and I guess that the signal lights you refer to have already been removed (this recording was made in 2012).

@@hikinghighandlow5661 Thanks for the clear explanation. I thought they were traffic lights for those on skis, or walkers in summer!

You can see the maximum speed (vmax) at the lower right corner of the video. The highest alowed speed at this line is 130 km/h.

The recording was made on February 23, 2012 according to the image data. However, the information in the video indicates February 27, 2012. Which is the real one?

Good observation. The correct date is February 23rd 2012, like indicated in the begining of this video. I have corrected the description. Thank you 😊

Didn't even make a stop in Hell. I guess nobody wanted to get off. Is there only deboarding in Hell?
@hikinghighandlow56619 ай бұрын
Most people probably don't want Hell as their final destination 😄 Only the local trains stop at Hell for boarding and deboarding. This train, which is a long-distance train, has no stops between Trondheim and Trondheim Airport.

It's kind of cheap just to rebrand someone else's video as your own
@hikinghighandlow5661 Жыл бұрын
Hi I have not re-branded this video as my own at all! NRK's logo is still visible in the upper right corner. If you read the annotations under the description section of this video, and also the text in the intro (0:39) , you will find that it is clearly stated that this video is recorded by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) and is Content licensed under Creative Commons. I have, on the other hand, put a lot of work into adding all the information that is visible throughout the whole length of the video. (also to the spring and fall versions). So, I would suggest you read the description of the videos and also the text in the intro. Having said that, I hope that someone will soon make new recordings covering the whole of this great railway line. Thanks
