Really enjoy the Q&As so far Lars. Keep em coming. I have finally pretty much caught up on all the livestream videos (minus CAM). Because of you, I feel a lot more confident in modeling things up and printing them on my 3d printers (CR-10 and Ender-3).

Thank you for your valuable videos that I enjoy on a regular base. However,your method to design that twist lock has some room for improvements. My suggestion is to draw sketches on tangent planes at the outer cylinder wall. Then cutouts are looking as expected (walls parallel to the pin)

When you get your 3D printer, you can print Lars miniatures ;)

Thanks for making these vids Lars. I've tried a few 3D printers, but much prefer to roll my own from a base kit. I've been very happy with the TronXY X5S base and have been modifying it over the past few months. It is about as good as a $3000 printer, built for under $500. Its also got a 300x300x400 print size out of the box. Thanks to Lar's help I was able to design a beautiful control box and instrument panel for the dual power supply I use.

For when you convert a mesh into a BREP you can easily get rid of those extra faces that appear on the same plane / side. Instead of clicking on each triangle and clicking on delete like you did you: - Import your mesh and covert it into a BREP like you stated. - While still having design history off, switch over into the PATCH workspace - Go to MODIFY and then MERGE - Check the SELECT CHAIN option that appears and click on a face then click on OK. If there are any areas left that still have multiple faces on a side you can repeat this. Then you can turn design history back on. edit: this does not work on any curved surfaces, only flat areas.

Im glad you are going to touch on inserting SVGs soon. I've been having a problem with Fusion360 freezing when I insert them.

Hi Jody Olivent Thank you for watching! Are there a lot of details? I could see this could slow things down
@jodyolivent84816 жыл бұрын
I believe so, I'm new to making and using SVG files so it could be on the file itself. I have other SVG files that do not give me this problem. I'll see if I can replicate the issue in the same Fusion design with a different SVG for reference.

Once again thanks for the wonderful videos. I use many of your techniques and tricks. The Mold example was really great, I would love to see another long multi part video on something similar. I think 3D printing is must have. Make incredible stuff and bring ideas to life. Tolerances are sloppy at times; however the ability to have a part in a mater of hours is still exciting to me, in the last week I worked on a project to 3D print the sole of shoe out of ninja flex type material. The thing I love about Fusion is the ability to quickly make a .stl file and print on my Makerbot. This almost instantaneous prototype part is molded in Fusion printed and then refined. The cost of the part is nominal, many large parts can be printed out of a Kg of filament.

Lars, In Fusion 360 with (send to print utility)checked it does not open up Cura for printing like it has in the past? It seemed to happen after a Fusion update. Thanks pal

ok @10:49 what I am starting to use in my laser engraving side is using inkscape,(to curve the text) and in that you can save as svg file I do believe, I don't guess you could dive into that since it is a totally different company.
@cadcamstuff5 жыл бұрын
It is not so much that Inkscape is not an Autodesk product as much as finding the time to learn it 😊

I have always hated the right mouse button behavior of Fusion 360, and how you have to use 2 hand for orbiting. BUT! I have a solution now, created with AutoHotkey. This simple script captures the right mouse button and remaps it to Shift+Middle mouse button and does this Only in Fusion 360! Save it as RightClick_to_Orbit.ahk and doubleclick it after installing Autohotkey. Now you can just right click to orbit and middle click to pan. --- Copy after this line ------ #IfWinActive, Autodesk Fusion 360 (Non-commercial License) RButton:: MouseGetPos, , , id, control if control = Qt5QWindowIcon5 Send +{MButton Down} KeyWait, RButton Send, {MButton UP} return --- End of script --- To override the script, use Shift+Right mouse button.

Hi Lars, at the 40:34 mark, what is the reason for doing a project? When I tried this on my own without doing the project step, I was able to just offset and still choose the contour to extrude. Is there something I am missing here?

Hi Solid Byte Thank you for watching! Probably me who are missing something :-) I will have to look into that

is there some way to put text on a path (follow a path)?
@wernerstricker51526 жыл бұрын
I don't think there is a way in Fusion. What I usually do is make a complete svg in inkskape. The import svg into/onto design in fusion and extrude.
@PetePanaia6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply Lars! Yeah, I do it in Illustrator now. It sure would be great as a feature in Fusion 360 though! Sort of an advanced pattern command or something?

Credit to Werner. Yes, As of now Fusion don't have that function....I would recommend going here and vote for it: forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation-request-a/idb-p/125 Best, Lars
