It's so fascinating to watch these old Caddy vids, being someone that actually subscribed super early on. My first video watched was the first game review... and the second video watched was the monkey UwU vid and the third was the bus-stop kazooie serenade, so I dunno what that says about me. Also it's very very true about YT and the way your creative projects shake out. I burnt my eyes into tiny black peas making video game reviews during the height of the whole "funny game critic" thing of 2012 - 2015, and still never made it a career. Funny story, I absolutely remember having *slightly* more subs than Caddy when I subscribed and felt like hot shit, so I sent some encouraging DM like "hey dude! keep making vids! you'll get huge someday!" and now he's got a million subz. Whatta chad! Honestly, you gotta follow what you love doing. If you DO burn your eyes out making objectively shit videos that you'll hate in your late 20s but they still get you the proud lil nostalgia feels than it was worth it.

I kind of agree with a more positive version of that. The core of his sense of humour hasn't changed, it's pretty goofy and even verging on lolrandom some of the time- it just works better because he has more confidence, commits to the joke and takes it further. And has better production in his videos.
